ONDP MPP waxes eloquent in support of Tory private member motion against racist hate on UWO campus by Ann Coulter

Ha ha, fooled you.

Some gems from Ann Coulter's speech at UWO:

Quote:

“As a 17-year-old student of this university, Muslim, should I be converted to Christianity? Second of all, since I don’t have a magic carpet, what other modes do you suggest,” Al-Dhaher said to loud and sustained applause.

“I thought it was just American public schools that produced ignorant people,” Coulter replied, prompting her own round of applause.

Coulter then noted many Japanese were converted to Christianity after the Second World War and “we haven’t heard a peep out of them.”

To shouts of “Answer the question,” Coulter finally replied “What mode of transportation? Take a camel.”

“Are you going to convert her now?” another student shouted out.

“No, there are some people I just as soon not convert,” Coulter retorted.

Quote:

“There are only two things gay men can’t do. Number one, get married to each other. Number two, throw a baseball without looking like a girl.”

Hmmm, I was thinking about this last night.

Why are we getting accused of racism, getting condemned in the legislature and whatnot, when Ann Coulter can come up here and actually spread racism.

Maybe Cheri DiNovo can get Peter Shurman to support a motion condemning Ann Coulter...

Yes, and George Galloway was turned away but it is perfectly fine for Ann Coulter and Bush Jr. to come to Canada. Welcome to the new Canada.

Coulter is a real-life troll. She just says idiotic things, then feeds off the outrage they cause. Her saying all terrorists are Muslims came as definite news to the IRA and Eta. Not to mention the family of Timothy McVeigh. O'Sama, anyone?

I despise Coulter and virtually everything she stands for. But let's be clear. Galloway was kept out of Canada because it was alleged that he financialy supports a listed terrorist organization. Coulter has not done so as far as we know.

Let's see how many MP's and MPP's take a stand against this kind of hate-mongering.
I'm sure Tim Uppal and Peter Shurman will lead the charge, as I know how strongly they feel about that sort of thing, particularly on a University campus.

Let's hope that from now on those MPPs would keep their mouths shut and would stop interfering with freedom of speech on university campuses; whether it is IAW, Barghouti, Galloway or Coulter.

Meanwhile, there is a certifiable hate-fest called the AIPAC convention in the US where all the talk is of killing millions of Iranians on behalf of a state engaged in genocide against its own indigenous population and not a peep from our Canadian politicos left or right. Suddenly free speech is sacrosanct.

That any major learning institution would give this side show a podium is the real news.

I think the real news is that these so-called major learning institutions will give fascists and nazis a podium under the right circumstances, unless thousands rise up with a fist in their face, as happened today in Ottawa.

BRAVO! Drive the racists out of this country!

No, sanizadeh, I'm sorry if it sounds that way. I'm sincerely hailing the heroism of those who chased this racist swine out of Ottawa.

I'm just recalling the murder of dozens of my immediate and extended family members while the cultured and cultivated and educated of certain Eastern European countries looked on with indifference.

I am being deadly serious. The only way to stop racism and fascism - in this country, as in your country of origin - is by ordinary people in the streets showing their power.

Noting that you have opened a new thread for this topic, I'll respond there If you permit.

I haven't opened a new thread on this topic, but I will look forward to your response.

So how many babblers agree with Ann Coulter when she criticizes 9/11 widows for using the deaths of their husbands to ask too many questions, and what Coulter describes as "the left's doctrine of infallibility"? Where have we heard that one before?

What about when fascists make war on the brown people and citing 9/11 as the basis for waging a war of terror? How can we seriously oppose the latest wars of aggression when some of us agree with the basic premise for waging those wars? Shouldnt the anti-war movement demand some actual legal evidence that Osama bin Laden and Al-Qa'eda are solely responsible for perpetrating 9/11, like the Taliban demanded proof of 9/11 guilt from their former associates in Washington threatening to bomb and invade Afghanistan in 2001 if they didn't handover bin Laden? And apparently the warmongers were uninterested in Taliban offers to handover bin Laden. Three times!

And she concluded, "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity."

Are there significant differences between Ann Coulter and 9/11 truth deniers? Are deniers helping to maintain the false neocon case for the war on terror/wars of conquest and what amounts to a modern day crusades? Are truthers really heretics for opposing the modern day equivalent of the inquisition?

nice spin. you are no doubt referring to Galloway giving the aid supplies and money he raised directly to the democratically elected government of Hamas?

sorry, i couldn't let that pass. forgive me for potentially being "anti-semitic" by pointing it out.

'many', you say? 100? 1000?

I wonder if the Germans were converted to Christianity after World War II.

Which reminds me of a show upon which she and Al Franken appeared:

Ann Coulter speech cancelled after hundreds protest

Quote:

OTTAWA—Security officials have scrubbed American right-winger Ann Coulter’s speech at the University of Ottawa after a boisterous protest prompted concerns for her safety.

A spokesman for the group that organized the event said there were fears for Coulter’s well-being after about two [s]thousand[/s] hundred people gathered outside the venue to protest her presence there.

Another piece of filth flushed. When will we do something about that porous border!?

ETA: I've edited the above to reflect the better information that became available soon after.
