Public Meeting: The NDP and Party Democracy - Part 2
The meeting is tonight at 7 at the Imperial Pub (upstairs), Dundas just east of Yonge.
Looking on the FB page (12:26, April 7th), I see 18 people are confirmed as attending, 70 maybes, and over 200 noes. Given that even FB yeses are dodgy, could this event be, well, a non-event? I fully realize that not everyone is on the 'Book, but movements for change are built on people actually showing up. Less than 20 people confirmed on the day of the event does not look good.
I say all this as someone who does want to see change in the party (if not in quite the same direction that the organizers of this event seem to be in favour of). It's going to be easy for the higher-ups to dismiss this as just the usual suspects making trouble, if members who have not been known for their activism and criticism of the party don't go to this. I might well be going to this, despite what I said on the earlier thread, and making my own point of view known.
