Blackwater Trained our Troops

http://nationalpost.com/news/canada/story.html?id=2954716

"this group is akin to a bunch of gangsters.."

Guess our  troops are "learning from the best"

The training courses included defensive driving and "close protection" in hostile environments, as well as specialized weapons use, a DND spokesman said.

Hummm... Sounds like bodyguard training.

I don't know much about Canada's military but I would have thought the Canadian Special Forces branch would have handled that training...

Naw, they're trained by U.S. Special Forces.

Special Forces [Canadian or American]  generally don't train regular army troops.

Blackwater is like the adult equilivant of wonanderland. [Well for some of us anyways]

We are technically "learning from the best"   Lots and lots of ex "special forces" types find their way down there. The olympic athletes of the military world.

Some Canadian, lots of American.  $10'000 USD a month is what some people can clear, or more.   Depending on who you work for overseas, a [civilian] close protection job can net someone $30-$40 grand a month.

Overseas regular Canadian soldiers make two to three times as much as their American counterparts.

Well I suppose there is something positive to see there - that warriors get paid more to keep someone alive ["close protection job"] as compared to warriors who kill.

And that Canadian troops are paid more than American ones is a bit of an eyeopener. Don't the Americans value their military people very much? I thought they did, by the way they talk, but then again HYPOCRACY seems to be a big part of being American.

sure glad that some are cool having their tax dollars used to have these demented homicidal maniacs train ours - clearly many canuckleheads are prepared to swallow just about anything required of us...if you think there might not come a time when these wackos could be shooting up your neighborhood instead of people in Iraq, Afghanistan or Pakistan - better think again..

Secret Erik Prince/Blackwater Tape Exposed

http://rebelreports.com/post/569103736/secret-erik-prince-blackwater-tap...

"In the speech, Prince proposed that the US government deploy armed private contractors to fight 'terrorists' in Nigeria, Somalia and Saudi Arabia, specifically to target Iranian influence. He expressed disdain for the Geneva Convention and described Blackwater's secretive operations at four Forward Operating Bases he controls in Afghanistan.

He called those fighting the US in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan 'barbarians who crawled out of the sewer..."

Sounds like just the right mindset for teaching our  'peacekeepers'

Blackwater Founder 'Setting Up Mercenary Army For UAE'

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/blackwater--founder-set...

"The founder of the controversial security company Blackwater - whose employees faced criminal charges over the killing of civilians in Iraq - is setting up a paramilitary force of foreign mercenaries in Abu Dhabi...Erik Prince, who sold his stake in Blackwater, had arranged a $529M deal to form an 800 strong battalion with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, the Sandhurst-trained Abu Dhabi Crown Prince who is the effective ruler of the United Arab Emirates, according to reports.

Some of the South African recruits are said to be veterans of Executive Outcomes..."

They're mercenaries operating loosely as employess or contractors to an international security umbrella, so are likely among the most effective soldiers and killers.  Scary bunch, like paramilitary death squads with better training and weapons.

ETA: given the level of brutality and random killing, raping and torturing they seen so adept with suggests that the psychological profiling of recruits either isn't competent to distinguish between the sociopathic personality and the psychopathic, or isn't interested.

I don't know, I think the Latin American death squads were every bit as efficient killers.  Blackwater may have newer weapons but those paramilitary death squads all graduated from the School of the Americas and had the best weapons the US could produce at that time.  It would be interesting to see the founders of the major private sector armies connections to the School of the Americas.

In Canada the political consensus seems to be that a proper roll for us is to train collaborators to provide security for a corrupt regime.  More or less setting up a Canadian branch of the School of the Americas.  Maybe the "Canadian School of Asia".  Then we can open more franchises in other Asian countries where governments need better trained thugs and murderers.

not just Asia - eg Haiti

Indeed but we are being given a special lead roll in some places.  Canada is once again taking its rightful place as the colony that is the staunchest defender of the empire. Different era, different empire but still the same elite ethos.
