City TV news at 6pm are they just giving up reporting news now?

City TV news at 6pm are they just giving up reporting news now?

I use to watch CityTV news at 6 since they were on Queen Street East but now it's just out of control. Today they spent half the hour with a talk show about kids which had people calling into the guests. For the past few months all they have been running is a few news stories and then go right into telethons and charity drives, which are good and I support several chairties but on a news show?

And I always thought when they started the CP24, it was going to be something like CNN, NOT.

Then they seem to wonder why nobody is watching anymore and they need to fire people after they build a multi million dollar building? I get most of my news here on the internets, some I believe, some I do not, but I can choose, I like that.

They stopped their weekend news and now they are running a talk show call in show and constant telethons and charity drives, I guess this is a sign their getting ready to give up for good, glad I switched stations already.

And you know what the really sad part is, they don't even care.

Daniel, if there's something cool and progressive you've done and you'd like to share, that's cool. Up to a point. However, relentless and repetitive blog flogging can be seen as overly self referential and will get on people's nerves.

If you wish to buy an ad, then you can flog your blog in public as much as you want.

Many thanks, I shall try that. I am sorry I didn't realize there was a rule about a signature, I'm selling nothing. If I see a post that "get's on my nerves" I just move onto the next one. I don't get it, but I shall not post my signature. What a bunch of old ladies.

But I do think the site is pretty cool, if you don't like something move on, that's what I do.

That old video Video Killed The Radio Star is now called Internet Killed The Video Star. I think that many TV news stations are on the decline. Moses Znaimer's TV station was great in it's time.

The title is good though. I am also disappointed at the TV news, local news most of all. They spend all of 4 minutes actually telling us about important things that happened today. Then it goes to weather, traffic, weather again, and then cute animal stories and ads for their own shows!! Plus commercials.

4 minutes of a half hour show actually telling news is, well, news I guess. Lets see if they run that story.

The CRTC started allowing TV stations to decide how many commercials they want to run. The regulation, up until just recently, used to be something like "10 minutes of commercials per half hour" , but now they are allowed to run as many ads minutes as they like. Will you still watch if it gets up to 20 minutes of ads per half hour?

Personally, I make a point of flipping the channel when ads come on. I think it is my duty to help defeat capitalism. Especially the food ads, because they actually make me hungry. Don't watch them, it is a form of brainwashing, as are all ads. You do not need that stuff!!!

So that's one of my points, are they now charging these charities for 1/2 hour talk shows and disguising it as NEWS? I always wondered if these charity telethons that they hold on the news at 6 are just advertisments and they are paying citytv for the air time.

If you can't fund a news operation get out of the business. After all it is called City "News?"

I guess someone agrees with me and maybe read my post and acted, it wasn't me but someone started washing it away.

It could have been the city street cleaners that washed it off but why did they leave the rogers name still there?
