No Yards--what's 'racist' about pointing out that Fethullah Gülen (an Islamist organization, the head of which lives in the U.S.) has taken control of the Turkish State, and is probably the benefactor behind that convoy of ships. This mess was the last nail in the coffin for the Kemalist Turkish Military, which is currently the only institution in the country supporting Israel (and not in Gülen's control). And I'm not defending the actions of the IDF. The Israeli Military is brash and trigger-happy, to say the least, which is probably what the people who organized this floatilla were hoping for: a shoot-first, ask questions later diplomatic disaster. It's sad that people died, most of whom were probably pacifists with the best of intentions. However, the machinations behind this had little to do with the plights of people in Gaza.

So we have a self-proclaimed "Friend of Israel" and a military lawyer as the international observers on the Gaza flotilla massacre inquiry.  Right.

Others have already exposed your meaningless attack on Turkish Muslims for being Turkish Muslims (one assumes that this in your mind making them automatically wrong,) I'd rather have a closer look the quoted statement and learn a little bit more about what you mean by "not defending the actions of the IDF".

Can you clarify that a bit? Saying the Israeli Military is "Brash and trigger happy" would seem to me to imply that it would be okay for them to blockade Gaza, kidnap and murder activists in International waters, attend over open air prison camps designed to provide collective punishment against a whole people for the actions of a few, if only they didn't keep putting the soup spoon on the wrong side of the table setting.

When we're talking about people being murdered one usually expects some level of outrage that would invoke a little bit more passion than calling the murders "brash" ... "brash murders" at least.

So give it up for us 666. Don't hold back. No one is going to criticize you for speaking your mind and really letting loose with a strong condemnation of Israeli's murders.

If you're not defending Israel, then please go ahead an "not defend".

Here's a clip of Colbert taking on the Israeli Ambassador .... there are several good gotcha's in this one, but I noticed specifically at around the 2:30- 2:45 mark where the Ambassador explains why Israel has been blocking snack foods into Gaza  ... "we don't feel particularity obliged to provide them with snack food" is what the petty tyrant, evil incarnate, piece of walking shit gives as the reason.

Now let anyone try and say the blockade is about preventing weapons getting to Hamas ... he clearly admits this is collective punishment.

Background*

Kevin Neish, from Victoria, B.C., was a part of the international solidarity flotilla to break the siege and blockade of Gaza which was brutally stopped by the Israeli commandoes in the early morning hours of May 31, 2010. The flotilla, which included six ships with over 600 activists from more than 30 countries, was carrying 10,000 tons of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

Neish explained, "I got a taste of life in Gaza for the day," after witnessing the massacre on board the MV Mavi Marmara, where Israeli Forces killed at least nine people. In addition to witnessing and speaking out, Neish smuggled out photographs documenting the Israeli massacre which have been published in the Turkish press.

This latest Israeli crime has been condemned worldwide. There have been protest actions across Canada -- including three rallies in Vancouver alone -- condemning the flotilla assault and the Harper government's uncritical support of Israel, whose Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was visiting with Harper in Ottawa when the May 31 massacre was carried out.

This could be entertaining, Kevin does have a real flair for the dramatic at the expense of truth.

Its funny really; I saw the video of Kevin aboard the Mavi Marmara, where he says "two soldiers down here bleeding and wounded", yet by the time he was interviewed by the CBC a few days later he had completely forgotten and changed his story to say that  he hadn't see any wounds on the soldiers and that they were released unharmed.

Far be it for me to accuse him of lying, instead we could be charitable and concede that any of the many discrepancies in his story are most likely a result of the severe trauma he claims to have underwent. But either way, it doesn't make him a reliable eyewitness. It will be interesting to see if he is able to give some straight answers to some straight questions at the forum :)

Well YF-Al...assuming you're not a troll, I don't give a shit whether or not there are discrepancies in what Kevin Neish has said or not...or anyone else on board the flotilla for that matter.

The fact of the matter is that the IDF staged armed boardings of civilian ships in international waters and killed and injured a whole bunch of folks in the process.   That is an international crime...and the whole world knows it.

Israel Wednesday issued a stern warning to Iranian and Lebanese organizers who plan to send three more aid ships to Gaza later this week.

Attempts by the Iranians and Lebanese to break Israel's blockade of Gaza would be seen not just as a provocation and a breach of law, but as a 'hostile' act because the ships and their cargo are from enemy states, said Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor.

'They are under a different status,' he told the German Press Agency dpa, referring to the earlier aid flotilla forcefully intercepted on May 31, which had carried aid and activists mainly from European states including Turkey, Greece and Ireland.

Now you got that, right? They murdered nine people on the ships they didn't consider hostile. I guess that means the rabid freaks will have to sink the Lebanese and Iranian ships and shoot dead any survivors.

The Lebanese flotilla has been green-lighted, and the IDF is already preparing to intercept the vessels as they make their way to the Gaza Strip over the weekend.

The army said the same commandos who took part in the deadly raid on the Turkish ship in late May will also be called to stop the Lebanese vessels.

"We are preparing for several scenarios. It is not yet clear which boats, if any, will make their way towards Gaza or who will be on board. In any case, we will prevent any vessel from reaching Gaza," an IDF official said Monday.

... The Navy admitted to some tactical errors on the part of the commandos who raided the Turkish ship "Mavi Marmara" and said there were some problems in the preparations for the takeover, particularly in light of the fact that the ship was carrying members of the pro-Palestinian IHH group. However, the army said, the operation as a whole was successful.

"We must keep in mind that all those harmed during the incident were extremists, not innocent civilians," an army official said.

... As for the Lebanese flotilla, the army may have an advantage as far as intelligence is concerned, but it is also [sic] talking into account that the commandos may be in for a few surprises. "The bottom line is that we will act in the same manner - with the necessary improvements to the tactical problems that were raised," an IDf source said. "If we will find terrorists aboard the vessels, we will not hesitate to harm them..."

Israel fears the cabinet's decision to ease the blockade on Gaza will result in more sails to the Hamas-ruled territory, but the army is focusing on the operational aspects and is not ruling out the possibility that the next flotilla will also end in violence.

http://intifada-palestine.com/2010/06/freed-islamic-leader-urges-nationa...

"Nayef Rajoub, the popular Islamic leader in the al-Khahil region has been set free after spending 48 months of captivity in Zionist jails and detention camps for 'taking part in illegal elections.'

Israel views all acts of resistance, including non-violent activism, to its Nazi-like military occupation of Palestine as 'acts of terror'

Rajoub pointed out that he was carrying two messages from thousands of Palestinian political prisoners and resistance activists languishing in Israeli dungeons and detention camps:

'The first message is that the Palestinian people should place the prisoners issue at the top of the national agenda, otherwise the prisoners will return to their families in coffins.

And the second message is that both Fatah and Hamas as well as the rest of Palestinian national factions must do all they can to restore national unity.."

Leaked Documents Show PA Undermined Turkey's Push for UN FLotilla Probe

http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article11350.shtml

"The Palestinian Authority attempted to neutralise a United Nations Human Rights council resolution condemning Israel's deadly attack on the Gaza Freedom FLotilla; leaked UN and PA documents obtained by The Electronic Intifada show...The PA's apparent collusion shield Israel will recall for many its efforts to undermine UN action on the Goldstone report last October..."

Now we know why the West prefers to deal with the PA and why the Palestinian people overwhelmingly chose Hamas. Puppets.

International Campaign Launched in Support of Parliamentarians threaened with eviction from Jerusalem

http://www.middleeastmonitor.org.uk/news/middle-east/1196-international-...

"Following the Israeli Interior Minister's decision to expel three Jerusalem MPs from the city, the International Campaign for the Release of the Abducted Members of the Palestinian Parliament HAS SENT OUT LETTERS TO EVERY NATIONAL PARLIAMENT THROUGHOUT THE WORLD,as well as international parliamentary institutions; calling upon them to take tangible steps to stop this expulsion from taking place.

The Campaign stressed that the decision to expel Mohammed Abu Tir, Mohammed Totach, Khaled Abu Arafa and Ahmed Atan is a racist one, falling within the context of Israel's policy of displacing the indigenous residents of Jerusalem and judaising the city.

In the letter, which was sent out on Sunday, June 20, the campaign urged global parliamentary institutions to 'coordinate all efforts toward putting an end to such violations against the members of the Palestine Legislative Council." It also stressed the importance of 'TAKING PRACTICAL STEPS' regarding the Israeli abduction and expulsion of Palestinian MPs, which is a violation of the Parliamentary immunity of Palestinian MPs.

The campaign called for bringing the Israelis responsible to trial for this violation of the rights of the elected representatives of the Palestinian people. "

Please forward this to whomever and wherever you think it might do some good. I have forwarded it to my MP who is NDP so faint hope there, as we know how timid about pissing off Israel they seem to be. However I won't take no answer for an answer and hope you won't either. Perhaps provincial legislatures should also receive it and asked what they intend to do about it. Since they are so determine to support 'the only democracy in the Middle East' let them ask that august body how it justifies such outrageous actions.

Tow Dutch Flotilla VIctims Sue Israel

http://www.kawther.info/wpr/2010/06/22/two-hollandese-citizens-on-flotil...

The Dutch Foriegn Ministry informed Amur Abu Rashed, th eCoordinator of the 'European Campaign to Lift the Siege of Gaza' who was present on the freedom flotilla, that they will pay all expenses of a lawsuit which he filed together with another Hollandese citizen against the Israeli authorities because of their abduction in international waters from the ships of the freedom flotilla on May 31, 2010."

If we lived in an enlightened jurisdiction instead of this obscene 'Dominion' perhaps similar lawsuits would also be funded for Kevin Neish et al. Of course it wouldn't be a Tory gov't. It wouldn't be a Liberal gov't. It wouldn't be an NDP gov't...hmm?
