When do we cut the heads off the rich & burn buildings?

Obviously this thread is a little tongue in cheek but as things get worse for the middle class and NOONE seems able or willing to change things (I can hear the responses now), I wonder where exactly the breaking point is for a ppl?

Our businesses and government don't seem worried about the masses enough, time to cut the heads off of the rich and burn some buildings down?

Why not?

Despite having several of the same people its not the same site and I am looking for peoples input, should I exclude some people from both sites by only posting in one place?

The websites arent the same, so again, why not post here too?

Because it's just as stupid over there.

Never, I hope (and yeah, I know the hyperbolae is in jest).

In the first place a lot of violent protest (in the privileged west)  is nothing more than street theatre. What it does most is give some people the idea they are being heroes and saving the world, when in fact all it does is discredit real work and give police a chance to practice their crowd control skills and try out new toys (and a good excuse to over-react and subvert when they want to).

As for large scale experiments from the far right or far left, most of them wind up killing and hurting far more lower and middle class people than rich. Everyone remembers the guillotine which killed rich and poor alike (between 16 and 40 thousand people). The way they killed hundreds of thousands out in the country - chaining them together in barges and sinking them - is not as well-known. Political changes that aren't well thought out sometimes get taken over by psychopaths who smell power and aren't quite as scrupulous as their well-meaning colleagues.

I know negotiation is harder and takes longer than just chucking a brickbat, but it usually winds up with better and longer-lasting change in the end.

Of course he did.  The more audience for a public wank, the more pleasurable.

Caissa and TB, I've already flagged the OP for what it is. Hopefully this pre-adolescent stuff will be shut down shortly. I strongly recommend that those who find this degrading, provocative, ally-alienating, and immature should express their views likewise to the mods.

I agree it is not the sort of thing you want as a distraction,  though so long as there are people who see such tactics as romantic and valid, it doesn't hurt to point out the faults with that reasoning.

What the?

AM, perhaps your OP was "tongue in cheek," but usually that also needs a bit of humour to make it worthwhile. We have serious threads about the use of violence in protest and in radical politics, and I don't see anything so productive coming out of this thread, in which I fail to see the humour.

If you'd like to open a thread to talk about  "what the breaking point is for ppl," I suggest finding a better question to ask in the OP, and one less gratuitously incendiary.

Closing.
