Apparently, the police and the prosecutor's office believe the evidence (the woman's statement) is insufficient to proceed with any charges. Although, as [url=http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/06/prosecutor_al_gore_... Bernstein[/u][/color][/url] reported in The Oregonian, the statute of limitations does not run out until 2013. So, maybe this isn't a dead issue yet.

But, no one (even the police) would say that there's "no evidence". The woman's testimony is clearly evidence. The question for the police and prosecutors is to determine if that testimony constitutes sufficient evidence to further investigate and prosecute Gore.

Al Gore is no longer a potential presidential candidate. If he did anything of this nature and were convicted, he'd be a scumbag. But it isn't political. And it wouldn't discredit the evidence supporting global warming, which I suspect is your real agenda here.

Whatever may have happened in that hotel room, the evidence supporting global warming wouldn't be "discredited" even microscopically.
In fact, if the accusor, as has been reported, supports Gore's political positions on climate change and if she was, therefore, concerned about any adverse impact her accusations may have had on the policies that Gore advocates, then that only lends more credibility to her accusations.

Sven, the editor-in-chief of Wikileaks is on the lam for publishing potentialy incriminating material implicating the world's most powerful. The Smoking Gun is a tabloid site which merely gathers sensationalist, already public information in order to titilate and shock its readership. I do not see how the two sites share a common ethic.
It would not surprise me if a powerful and influential man like Gore abused his privilege to rape women, but I see nothing progresive about the link you posted--rather than implicate Gore it seems instead to mock an anonymous woman and carrying larger implications, many of which remind has already pointed out. At babble--perhaps you forget--we discuss topics from a progressive, feminist point of view. It doesn't appear like this thread was opened with that in mind. In the future, please choose your topics and their approach with more care. The moderating staff is getting quite exasperated at your utter lack of ability to do so.
