That was fun, especially "Too Much Heinlein'. 25, at least.

Social Democracy's 3rd way was deeply involved in the Iraqi resource war. Denmark sent troops to both Iraq and Afghanistan.

I think the number of troops committed to actual combat in Afghanistan is something less than the total. France and Germany have paid lip service to providing the kind of troops for US-style search and destroy missions. One Canadian military leader was quoted as saying something to the effect that NATO has to try to convince Germans to to do their part in killing for the sake of empire, or close to it. And Canada's poodles for imperialism have been especially vicious toadies in committing troops to an aggressive US-led combat mission in parts of Afghanistan for sure.

But the USSA's expansionism is waning today. No empire in history has been able to maintain both economic and military hegemony. Even the British have not fully learned that lesson with aiding the USSA in its conquest of far away lands. They are trying desperately to shore up an empire that they've never needed and can no longer afford. Obama's comments that the US military must remain the strongest in the world is reminiscent of history's empires in decline. Noble ideas for social democracy will live in the minds of billions of people around the world and long after the demise of the American empire. In just the last century, a number of old world empires collapsed, from the Austro-hungarian and Ottoman to the British and Soviet empires, and the last emperors of Japan and China and last Tsar of Russia passed away. And now we are witnessing the last vicious empire in various stages of decline.

That the American empire is in decline is undoubted. That it is the last of the vicious ones we shall see is but the fervent hope of humanity.

According to scientist Michio Kaku, the next 100 years will be the most crucial stage of human development. We either make it or we don't. I think that most of us have no idea just how thin the bread slices between now and then. I think it's gut check time for the human race as whole.

They're nuts.  Or, to be more precise, there is no place for historical experience in their view of the political economy.  Dogma trumps reality every time.  There's a reason their late 19th century reign came to an end.  The majority of the people suffered.

One hundred years, Fidel.  Homo sapien has far less than that to clean up its act.

And in that short interval, we can only soldier on in support of something that the "average masses" can grasp...besides their own condition.  Sure we can slang a political party for being less than perfect, but the slanger had better have something better to put before the sans culotte, eh?  Otherwise they are just engaging in moral one-upmanship, and that's a broken reed.

No, that's not how it works. The party puts up their take on life and then people say yes, no or maybe. It's up to the party to convince others. I can slag any party I want and not have to come up with something better.
