Thread on government's attack on employment equity

Maysie, I'm not in the habit of challenging mods' decisions, but [url=http://rabble.ca/babble/anti-racism-news-and-initiatives/harper-govt-att... seems a bit on the defeatist side.

If people post racist content, don't close a thread - admonish them, correct them, ask them to keep out, delete their posts if they go to that extent.

Where would you suggest we discuss Stockwell Day's trial balloon of attacking employment equity? Can I open a fresh thread on that subject, or is it "taboo" because we can't control our own White Bloc?

I think I've over-made my point.

Here is what Jason Kenney did the day after Stockwell's sortie:

[url=http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20100723/tories-affi... insist they still support affirmative action[/url]

... and here is Xtra!'s take on that partial retreat (though I don't think they read Kenney's sinister comments carefully enough...):

Been there, done it all, except the deleting.

This might come as a shock to some babblers, but I don't like being the babble police, all evidence to the contrary. Wink

I found that other thread to be a magnet for people who don't get what Employment Equity actually is, and don't choose to educate themselves, despite links given. The thread topic itself, discussing and commenting on the recent moves by the dinosaur fuckwads in the Harper government, was long-ago strewn by the wayside.

I'm fine to open the thread again and remove my sniping comment ( Smile ) from my last post there, but I expect more of the same to continue there. I'm also away from the computer for all/most of today and I hate to dump such work on my esteemed colleague, Monsignor Catchfire.

Thanks for your comments, Unionist. I've reopened the thread in the hopes that we can keep it on track. I've always been utopian that way.
