Well said 6079, I don't disagree. All we can do is try, eh? I stay because of all of you. I love this place as much as I loathe it. So much good, so little progress. I piss off people I usually adore and I don't even post too much. I read ALL the time. Sometimes I can't even follow some of the discussion. Very intelligent space.

What is rabble trying to be? I joined because they tried to be different. No, Utopia's not possible but it is a good horizon. My moniker was made under manic despair. Why are there so few women, POC, poor or lower class posting here? Because we must be upheld to university degree posting around here. That might be good if it works for the sponsors of this site but I don't get this change.

Oh well, we"ll always have...Paris? (Isn't that how it goes?)

Whatever, I know people get pissed reading my self-serving venting. Belated apologies.

The substantive question is not whether it is a good idea to call police pigs, but rather, is it a good idea to enforce that in thread posts.

I don't see anybody here defending that position.

Well, I'm not particular to the ban of "Pigs" in thread titles, much like I wasn't when I was banned from using "Fuck" in thread titles.

Okay. If it were my house and my decision I would ban it. So just based on the action and without knowing rabble's actual position, yeah, I'd defend it.

They protect bombastic old 70s stoner bands? Well that's another thread topic entirely and we're just about to get the door closed on this one.

Not that it's the reason for my personal feelings, but I can think of a few times when I have pretty happy to have a cop around.

Yeah, just so you know I'm not trying to avoid the subject. Though the first time I head "pig" in here I almost thought it was a joke. That cliche IS as old as Pink FLoyd.

And if we're talking about cops we might as well also talk about border guards, soldiers, conservation officers, prison guards, probation officers, or private security guards. Cops may be a bit more in the limelight, but these others are hated just as much by some.

And actually I just double-checked. Rodney King is still quite alive.
