I'm not so certain the classification of this thread as a passive aggressive attack is warranted. I did check the original post (and its thread, and the two preceding threads) , and unless it was couched in some totally private language, remind's posting in the gun registry thread was pretty much a non sequitur. If that posting was, in fact, a coded reference to something having to do with the topic at hand in the relevant thread, remind was running the risk everyone else does when they make a deliberately obtuse posting in a public forum... that risk being that someone is going to handle it like a sea lion handles a volleyball, they are going to toss it around the pool and other people are going to jump in and bounce it around too... such is the fate of one-liners around here... look at the bright side... this thread has provided us an insight into Maysie's concept of sartorial elegance.

Well I hope at least that any of you who DO wash your linen aren't killing the planet with that phosphate poison.

Oh I would be a little careful about that borax 6079, I have been researching "alternatives" in trying to deal with an outbreak of creeping Charlie here at my housing co-op and borax is often mentioned as an effective weed control product... there are risks even to supposedly "natural" cures... including the risk that borax, unlike some of the manufactured products, will not "break down" and prevent any vegetation from re-establishing itself in an area that has been (over)treated with it. Just make sure you don't inadvertently spill any of that stuff when washing your linen.

That is great news, actually. You know, just seeing all the garbage on the shelves (not to mention all that antibacterial soap that will probably turn us all into puddles of rotting goo in 50 years) I did't even think that anyone in authority in this country might actually be paying attention. On that front, I just do my own thing and try to work by word of mouth.

For what it is worth, you have made my day a bit brighter.

Good to know. I have actually done fine with washing soda and bar soap. And of course I know borax as a good ant poison. I will check that out.

BTW, for anyone who is looking for a good disinfectant, Benefect is an excellent hospital-grade one which is less toxic than vinegar. Canadian-made, and based on thyme oil (it is in the same family as lysol and dettol). We use it for surface work, floors, and (when it is needed) laundry loads.
