Media Worth Watching

If you want to know what's really going on, turn off the TV and use this page instead.

If you think that my language is strong in the articles that I write, I’m surprised that the Fire Department was not called in while  Bruck Easton was speaking:

“Due to these unique circumstances, the Windsor Star possesses a reach and an influence in our city that is unmatched. There is however a cancer at the Windsor Star, a conflict of interest in its coverage of municipal politics that is absolutely fundamental. This conflict of interest is corroding public life in Windsor…

That however did not happen and many persons have noted over these last several years the fawning coverage the Windsor Star has given Mr. Francis. Through his tenure, we in Windsor have gone through the toughest times in living memory for most of us and yet save for minor criticisms there has been nothing but praise from the Windsor Star for the Mayor’s performance.

Windsor has led Canada’s unemployment statistics throughout the Francis years; bankruptcies have soared; home foreclosures and factory closings have been rampant; yet there has been nothing but praise from the Windsor Star for Mr. Francis…

Further this disease in the editorial department of the Windsor Star may have spread to the news reporting side as well. We have been told by more than one Star reporter that ideas on stories that might in any way be critical of Mr. Francis are almost always killed; and that their reports are edited and headlines are written with his interests in mind.

A conflict of interest at the very top of the media hierarchy is an insidious thing. It has a corrosive effect on civic life. We have seen that here in Windsor.

These two institutions: the Mayor’s Office and the Windsor Star are together a very powerful force, who have intimidated and shouted down many in this City.

For my part, I blame Mr. Francis for creating this conflict of interest at the Windsor Star as much as I do the Star management for falling into this trap. Mr. Francis clearly has sought to benefit from the Star’s failure to adhere to the most basic standard of conduct, a standard that journalists routinely demand of public office holders.”

Ouch. These are very serious allegations that are being made.

How does the Star respond? Here is what their Publisher said in an interview on CKLW as well as other comments made in  the Star itself:

A new news outlet for those in essex area. Bruck Easton is the former president of the progressive conservatives. Finally there is outcry at the WIndsor Stars bias. Something that is decades overdue.

The editorial and letters to the editor manager John Coleman, is married to the Mayors chief of staff Norma Coleman. For some context.

Maybe you should start another topic about the Windsor Star. It may be an interesting story, but it has absolutely nothing to do with any of the content on http://www.monetaryreform.com/MR/videoPage.htm  This thread is for comments about any of the videos on that page.

Excellent. I think Richard Cook's six part video on monetary reform is well worth watching. It really has become a bank ridden society.

The headline was "media worth watching". If you wanted it more specific you should have posted it as such. As it is you gave little context other than a link. I usually post part of an article so people know what they are reading instead of having to link, esp to video as some on here only have dial up.

Sorry thorin_bane, you are right, I should have asked for comments in the first post. Smile

No big deal. I know we all try to share our finds. After going there I noticed several movies I have already seen. I liked Oh Canada for how the interviewer questioned paul martin and PM had a hard time answering the questions.

Another one you might want to consider is "The Truth About Canada" by Mel Hurtig. Very interesting.

I have on some other long forgotten thread talked extensively on monetary policy. For one the BOC should be paying off canadian dedt holders on the national debt and then we repay with no interest. (seeing as we would repay our selves)The reason they don't is because the rich have more money than they know what to do with. If we freed up that much capital they couldnt get stable returns while they gamble on the market. That kind of uncertainty isn't what the want.

After resently finding out about short selling I wonder how is that even legal. One cannot sell something that doesn't exist. Esp something as nebulas as stock pices.

Flaherty was just in the news about crashing the loonie the other day. Funny thing is everone is devaluing their currency so its inflation with relative exchange not changing that much. The are blaming it on China for not floating their currency. As you are aware the whole currency and banking sector is nothing but fraud anyway.

But it's the kind of uncertainty we are getting anyway. The other reason they don't is because our governments and the political party system has been co-opted and is now controlled by the same financial mob of crooks and gamblers.
