Wikileaks Press Conference

"Start imagining the war or stop supporting it. This is the most accurate description of a war that has ever been released into the historic record. There is nothing comparable. We need to understand what the reality of war is, if we are going to choose to engage in it.."

Media War: WikiLeaks V The Pentagon

http://english.aljazeera.net/indepth/opinion/2010/10/2010102410827506430...

"Analysing the media coverage of the latest WikiLeaks release reveals some interesting insights...

One report dealt with perceptions abroad that the US supported terrorists. Another was oriented toward how to sell support for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in Western Europe, counseling that 'counting on apathy is not enough.'

Sure is here in Canada..

Robert Fisk: The shaming of America

Quote:
As usual, the Arabs knew. They knew all about the mass torture, the promiscuous shooting of civilians, the outrageous use of air power against family homes, the vicious American and British mercenaries, the cemeteries of the innocent dead. All of Iraq knew. Because they were the victims.

Only we could pretend we did not know. Only we in the West could counter every claim, every allegation against the Americans or British with some worthy general – the ghastly US military spokesman Mark Kimmitt and the awful chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Peter Pace, come to mind – to ring-fence us with lies. Find a man who'd been tortured and you'd be told it was terrorist propaganda; discover a house full of children killed by an American air strike and that, too, would be terrorist propaganda, or "collateral damage", or a simple phrase: "We have nothing on that."

"Forget China or Al Qaeda. In a twist that would have been inconceivable even a few months ago, the WIkileaks.org Web site is being proposed as the first pubic target for a US government cyber attack..."

"Channel 4 flagship Current Affairs strand, exposes the full and unreported horror of the Iraqi conflict. Channel 4 is the ony broadcaster to have been given access to nearly 400,000 secret military significant activities reports (SIGACTS) logged by the UN Military in Iraq between 2004 and 2009. These reports tell the story of the war and occupation which the US military did not want the world to know..."

wonder why our 'representatives' aren't raising this? Would make an obvious election issue in any normal kind of country

WikiLeaks - Extensive War Crimes: Legal Action Unavoidable

http://usgenocide.org/2010/wikileaks-iraq-war-logs-legal-action-unavoidable

"We salute WikiLeaks and its sources for their courageous actions. We call on all lawyers, judges and juridical institutions to display equal courage..."

speaking of which, why do 'credibly suspected' unindicted war criminals like Bush, Clinton and Blair continue to enter Canada, in direct contravention of Canadian Law, with no protests from our 'representatives'. On the contrary. When Lawyers Against War requested the intercession of Jack Layton NDP, before the Bush visit, they were refused and told he 'would entertain no further correspondence on the issue.' It is on hard issues such as these, we see the truth of their actual commitment to justice applied to affairs.
