Introducing, me.

So, here I am. I joined rabble do to pure coincidence. The story goes: I am a young mother, at twenty two, and recently joined back in too College to excel and succeed in my own life and, of course, offer a better future for my child. I joined an art program - which, while being a wonderful program, did not offer as much open-minded intellectual minds as I would have liked to imagine. In fact, minus my professors, most of them continue to be... like everyone else I dislike.

My highest moral is being against judgement. That's not to say I don't judge. Everyone, to some degree, assesses a person. I just choose not to judge for religion, clothes, culture, life choices, sexuality, etc. When the opportunity to attend a College art program arose, I was sure that I would find other young woman and men that used their brain - outside of the norm.

Alas, I was mostly disappointed. Although I do meet people that are extremely intellectual, for the most part, I still have issues with discussing things. Simply because when I bring up the topic, people choose to be ignorant instead of learned. The funny part about this introduction, is I am judging people right now. How...ironic?

Anyway, I do not profess to be more or less intelligent then anyone else. Nor, better or worse then anyone else. I just found this place to be made up of open-minded, humorous, and intelligent individuals - implying that I stalked the forums a while before joining.

And with that, I should stop slacking off on my original intended purpose for being in the computer lab - I'm working on a Typography project - and I hope to see you all around the forums.

The irony is only just beginning.

Wilkommen.

Nice handle, by the way.

Typography? Yes. You are most welcome, malignant ones. I started a thread about Helvetica a while back, and probably one or two others. I think a lot about fonts, in general.

I look forward to hearing what you have to write! See you on the boards...

I am afraid after taking (and discovering) Typography, I will never look at the world the same again. I constantly notice logos and design and generally am angry by careless typography - something that never would have bothered me before.

And, just as a side note, I love Helvetica for it's simplicity and clear cut edge, but I hate it's overuse in the typographic world. It's like men. I can't do without them, but I don't actually like them.

Unionist

Speaking of typography, there is a world shortage of apostrophes. Use them sparingly.

I just use commas upside down in a pinch. Or I stretch out a period.

This archived thread has enough design elements to quench the most fevered longing for novelty.

Oh gosh, you might dislike me. I figure my biggest struggle with writing - I'm a writer, go figure - is the over use of apostrophes.

Well, fuck, you weren't even discussing commas, you were thinking apostrophes. And during my tired state I totally mixed up the two words. Took me ten full minutes to realize I was mistaken apostrophes for commas. Well, now that I had my blonde moment. (If I can blame someone, I blame art history. A three hour lecture on the start of Early Christianity is enough to make anyone a little boggy minded.)

And as for everyone else, that I so rudely ignored. Thanks for the welcome. I got distracted by the instant mention of Helvetica. That is how common it is.

Caissa

Think of the poor colons and the abused and neglected semi-colons.

Weltschmerz

All commas should be replaced with ellipses...keeps people from reading too fast.

malignant_tribes

Yeah, but everyone overuses ellipses. And they don't even use them properly. It's often used in place of a period in 9/10th's  of my facebook messages. Per example:

"hey...wondering how u r...right back...good thing i have grammer....hahahaha"

And I'm annoyed by everyone's insistence to bastardize the English language via internet.

Mind you, I'm pretty sure we could make the colon come back. It's sophisticated in its own pleasent way.

... which is why I was gently advocating that you be more careful with the word "it's".

Welcome to babblopedia!

malignant_tribes

Yes, I was not offended. If you do find grammatical errors within my own type feel free to tell me so. Can't say I've perfected my grammar yet. Dickens would be ashamed of me - supposedly we're "related." Not sure if I believe that, as my father tends to lie about most things, but I've heard such (great great great great great grandpa).

Unionist

Well then, we have great expectations for your participation here!

malignant_tribes

That was such a brilliant pun I'm not sure if I should call it lame or funny. But, I like it all the same. Nice to meet you though.

Caissa

No, Unionist; I'm expecting hard times ahead.

Unionist

Sigh.

Things are looking rather Bleak. How's it going to Pickwick up?

Caissa

Foul, Catchfire. Complete title required. No blending. Wink

Unionist

My curiosity level has plummeted. I think I'll go shoppe. There may be copper in them thar fields. Who knows, Carol, Christmas may come early!

Wow! A tail of two kitties!!!

I think we'll get along fine.

I can sense that Unionist may be a discovery all in himself. He seems like the Benjamin of the group. And by Benjamin, I refer to George Orwell's donkey.

malignant_tribes

And I just realized that sounded like I was calling you an ass on the sly. Clever, but not intentional.

Caissa

You're the Boz, Unionist.

You're required to be here for 24 hours before calling me names.

You were 24 minutes short.

There's a lesson in that somewhere.

al-Qa'bong

I'm surprised you didn't call her a premature exoriator.

malignant_tribes

Okay, but I wasn't technically calling you a name. On contraire, I was calling you cynical and hard to please. More of an assesment. And there's a lesson in THAT somewhere. Tongue out

Caissa

Your voice sounds familiar. Have you been on some other Left wing discussion boards under a different nom de guerre?

That must be why they stole mine!

Nope, I have not. Hope whomever you think I was is someone you enjoyed though.
