Denise Savoie is a francophone and she manages to get elected in heavily anglophone Victoria!
BTW: It was Pauline Marois who played the "race card" in the 1998 Quebec election when she started waving around a copy of Jean Charest's birth certificate to remind her fellow Quebecers that the name on his birth certificate was "John" and not "Jean" (in other words - don't be fooled into voting for Charest because you think he's pur laine Quebecois - he is an IMPOSTER and is really a "maudit anglais"). If anyone can interpret Marois's actions as being anything other than an appeal to bigotry - I'd like to hear it.
I'm a maudit anglais, and I don't think Marois is a racist. If what she purportedly said about Charest is true (Unionist pointed out the same fact about his given names), it simply means to me, that there's no place for anglos in her pur laine conception of the Quebec nation.
Please, please, let's put a stop to this! It was NOT Pauline Marois. It was Suzanne Tremblay!

Unionist, since Mulcair has not apologized to Davies, who are you planning to vote for in the next election? Are you open to voting for a progressive Liberal like Cauchon?
No. Give me a break.
I will return to voting for the Bloc, unless their candidate is unduly repugnant. I still regret voting for Jacques Léonard. I will vote for the NDP if a miracle happens (Mulcair on the road to Damascus, or another candidate). I may not vote at all - but then change my mind at the last minute and vote to keep someone out rather than to put someone in. Or maybe I'll run myself. [Thought I'd end with a joke.]
ETA: If François Rebello comes back to federal politics and to this riding, I'd gladly vote for him again (he got about 1/3 of the vote in 2004). I met him on a number of occasions and was very impressed, besides the alliances he built with the union movement when he was a student leader.
And need I say, if a disaster happened and Amir Khadir came back from his brilliant career in the National Assembly and QS (I hope he doesn't!), I would happily vote for him again, as I did in (I think 2000?).

And if Martin Cauchon changed parties, and platforms, I might vote for him too. But I'll be pushing up daisies before anything called Liberal gets my vote.

Why aren't you open to voting for the Liberals, particularly if they have a socially progressive one like Cauchon? What is it about the BQ that makes them appeal more to you? I'm interested to know.
