What's the first song you remember hearing?

The first tune from the radio that I remember (while crawling along the kitchen floor) was "Dominique" by the Singing Nun.

How about you?

I remember "Dominique" but the earliest song I can remember is probably "Don't Be Cruel" or "Hound Dog" by Elvis Presley, although I heard a lot of Perry Como stuff such as "Catch A Falling Star" and "Round and Round". All from the 1950s. I remember hearing a recording of Johnny Cash from that time also: "I Walk The Line". Oh, and I think Patti Page's "Doggie In The Window" from the same time.Embarassed

Either something by The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem or a Rogers and Hammerstein musical. My guess would be either "The Rising of the Moon" or "Shall We Dance". They were pretty much interchangeable on the "hi-fi" when I was wee.

first song i remember was the "judy blue eyes suite" by crosby stills and nash.

heard it in my parents car radio on the way to art class when i was like 5 or six (around '85)...stuck in my head ever since!

Apparently there were tootsie roll candy songs in 1965. Ma said I would jump up and down in my crib when those commercials were on.

The lullabye my mother always sang was about the little animals and birds in the forest going to sleep, "and so should you, my dear one...". And many folk- and then-popular songs from my mother, long before i recall anything from the radio. She sang while working at chores, all her life. That may be what i miss most.

My father playing his trumpet.  I don't know what piece it was.

Rhythm of the Rain, in my grandparents' kitchen, and feeling so safe and happy, playing with my sister. That song always brings back that memory.
