The left only calls people lunatics when they sound like one. In this case it's the thread topic. It's kinda crazy that in this day and age someone thinks like this.

But then again we do live in a Capitalist world that takes every thing away from you including your hope. So I guess when someone believes that the god Jehovah of the bible will come down onto earth and kill all the rich people and ruling elite, sending them into a flaming hell for ever, they get all excited and pray for the day of deliverance.

Just to be clear. I said "my god" which is my expression of some higher power. I never raised the name of any particular belief or religion. I am not religious at all.

Everyone just seems to assume that anytime someone uses the word god it is an automatic reference to chritianity.

It could be any diety in any type of belief system. Or are there no other religions in the world that have gods? If christianity has copyrighted the term I am unaware of it.

Try Allah, Budda, Zeus, to name a few.

Not just out of hand George. We can dismiss it after several millenia of such talk where not a shred of factual evidence has been provided to substantiate the claims being made. There's also no evidence that deities are responsible for sunny dispositions, and no evidence in fact, of a garden. Just because a ten year old kid still insists that he cannot survive without his security blanket, it does not mean that the parents shouldn't consider themselves somewhat delinquent at that point, in not having had the heart to heart discussion much earlier.

I'm kind of with Slumberjack on this one. The idea of someone who clings to his imaginary friend, God, lecturing babblers on being an "infant" in the care of government is laughable enough to make my morning.

Sorry SJ, that wasn't actually directed at you, but rather politicalnick being fitted for a pitch-covered suit.

Not that I don't enjoy a bit of ridicule when it is warranted, but going after someone for honest beliefs, holding on to offhand comments for which he has already apologized, and thinking that certain ideas are not worthy of discussion isn't really kosher in my books.

Besides and speaking of books and ridicule. I don't think Christians are the only ones in the big joke book. There are a few chapters with some real knee-slappers on anarchists, collectivists, agents of social change and other utopian idealists.
