I believe these are the same countries that want a "no-fly zone" around Libya?

Progressive people everywhere must condemn all these brutal acts of interference and aggression.

Saudi Arabia Admits Invading Bahrain

http://www.presstv.ir/detail/169917.html

"Saudi Arabia says it has responded to a 'security threat' in neighboring Bahrain by staging a 1,000 troop invasion in an attempt to quell escalating anti-government protests. 'We consider the arrival of any soldier, or military vehicle, into Bahraini territory...and overt occupation of the Kingdom of Bahrain and a conspiracy against the unarmed people of Bahrain,' said an opposition statement.

It called on the international community to act to ensure the 'protection of the people of Bahrain from the danger of foreign military intervention."

Iran objects to intervention

Bahrain's king has imposed a three-month state of emergency in the wake of a pro-democracy uprising that reportedly turned violent Tuesday.

The order, which was read on Bahrain state TV, also gives the country's military chief wide-ranging powers to battle the uprising.

Saudi Arabia and other Gulf nations dispatched 1,000 police officers to Bahrain on Monday to help it contain an uprising from the Shia-majority population. The United Arab Emirates also sent 500 police officers.

The cross-border operation was perceived as a measure by Gulf Sunni dynasties to prop up Bahrain's monarchy, due to fears that arch-enemy Iran, a Shia-run power, could increase its influence over the region.

Iran has called the intervention of foreign troops "unacceptable."

 Thanks Caissa,

While Bahrain has a Shia-majority population I seriously doubt they want to have anything to do with an Iranian style mullahocracy let alone Iran it's self. That's not to say Iran won't try to gain so sway in Bahrain with the population; I just doubt the amount of success they will have. The Iranian regime is pretty repressive in its own right and the Bahrainians (?) know it; they've seen what Iran did to its own demonstrators awhile back.

a good analysis of why Khaddaffi eventually loses:

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/17/opinion/17ahmida.html?hp

THE fight is not over. Whether or not Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi defeats the rebels in eastern Libya, any legitimacy he once had has been extinguished. He has weapons, tanks and planes, but he has lost the allegiance of even those elements of Libyan society that had once been willing to wait and hope for political reform. His base of support is now only diehard allies and foreign mercenaries. They might win on the battlefield, but they will lose in the end.

The uprisings in neighboring Tunisia and Egypt were precipitating events, but the resistance has drawn its core motivation from Libya's brutal experience of colonialism. What is most striking about the rhetoric of the rebellion is how the anticolonialist theme that Colonel Qaddafi once deployed has now been turned against him and is being used on Twitter and Facebook. Even as they are assaulted by Colonel Qaddafi's forces, the rebels have resisted calling for forceful Western intervention, though they support the imposition of a no-flight zone.

The king of Bahrain says a foreign-backed plot against his country has been foiled following a month of anti-government protests.

King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa thanked troops from nearby countries, mostly Saudi Arabian, who were brought in last week to put down the unrest.

He did not give any details of who was behind the alleged plot.

But in recent days Bahrain's Sunni leadership has accused Iran of interfering in its affairs.

Were you wondering why Harper, Ignatieff, Layton, and Duceppe are applauding the bombing of Libya for peace, but aren't demanding air strikes against Bahrain? Well, it's really simple. In Libya, it's a popular revolution against a despotic bloodthirsty dictator. Bahrain, however, is a "pleasant, peaceful place" (according to EU diplomat Robert Cooper), and there's a need to crack down on demonstrations where there could be violence - and inexperienced public order officials sometimes accidentally kill 21 people and wound hundreds of others.

I know, I know, the peace-loving babblers that are cheering on the bombers think I'm making this up - right?

Bullshit, Fidel. This little fraud applauds the bombing of Tripoli, and wants Harper to "DEMAND" (wow!) something or other about Bahrain.

Canada sells fucking weapons to Saudi Arabia, which are being used to murder those peaceful demonstrators. How about "DEMANDING" that Canada stop selling arms to Saudi Arabia! Oh, no sir, don't mind me, I'm just little Paul!!

How about "DEMANDING" a no-fly zone over Bahrain? Or "DEMANDING" that the U.N. Security Council authorize "any means necessary to protect civilians"? Oh wait, no, Obama and Harper and Cameron and Sarkozy haven't approved that yet, sorry, what the hell am I thinking of. Don't mind me, I'm just Paul.

I didn't say that Dewar is calling for an end to US imperialism in Africa, the Middle East, or even Latin America.

All I did was quote him suggesting that our corrupt stooges in Ottawa should examine their lack of any federal policy whatsoever for being just a teensy bit more selective concerning which countries Canadian-made weapons are sold and shipped to,  like Saudi Arabia with the big military budgets and participating in hard line crackdowns on pro democracy demonstrations in Bahrain.

If you think Dewar is not being straightforward about our corrupt stooges in the phony minority Tory government in Ottawa and propped up by the Liberal Party of bananda since 2006, then just say so. There is really no need to beat around the bush.

Yes, it's not so obvious from what Dewar says. And our corrupt stooges at the helm in Ottawa are likely behind this covert pro democracy maneuvering with the NDP playing a bit role we can be sure. It's a conspiracy no less.
