Hey! I am sitting in the Gladstone hotel right now, getting ready to moderate the live web discussion of rabble's first ever 'Real Issues' panel, the progressive alternative to CBC's horribly biased 'At Issue' panel and its coterie of Canada's right-wing pundits. Check it out and join in the discussion. Hopefully, rabble will be doing many more of these in the coming months.

Love the initiative...but the timeslot sorta sucks, 2:30 MST has me planted in a chair at work.

Will there be a recorded version to watch afterwards, or only the live stream?

Any chance you could consider a timeslot not in the middle of the afternoon work time-slot?

Taped version good for me...just as easy to spread around links to the taped version and can watch when i want.

Will it be available as a podcast as well? Seems like something I could listen to on the train into work.

That was a bit brutal. Started off fine, both video and audio. Then someone moved the mike, so that you could hear the moderator far better than the panelists. Then the video disappeared in the latter half. And don't get me started on the content...

Yes, only audio, black screen. It would be an interesting experiment to see whether that focused the audience's attention more, or less, on the content, or neither. Marshall McLuhan had some thoughts on that in an earlier century.

Olivia made some comments on the mis-named strategic voting which I found simplistic - or no, I found them wrong, and actually overly complicated. She said people vote by sort of deciding whom they agree with the most, and they don't vote by doing complex calculations about who has the best chance of beating whom in a particular riding. That's a straw-person attitude to "strategic" voting, I think. Lots of people vote [i]against[/i] an individual or a party that they really don't want to see get in, with only secondary attention paid to who gets their actual vote. If that's what's called "strategic voting", not only do I do it most of the time, I know many others who do as well. It requires little or no calculation.
