I think it has to do with strategic voting for anyone but Lois Brown. She's very polarizing. At least last election I saw a few NDP signs but so far none this election. I think the NDP guy only got about 2,000 votes in 2008.
He only got 8.5%; below 10% you don't get your expenses subsidy back. He got 4,548 votes. This is the area where the Greens can outpoll the NDP.
At least I don't have to worry about that in my riding of Markham-Oakridhes. Janice Hagan may have been a lly ittle slow getting started but I see plenty of her signs even if she is still slightly behind the other guys. Still suggest to your friend in newmarket that she voluunteer for Janice Hagan's campaign. Oakridges is the town just south of Aurora so it is not far from the riding at all.
That's a riding where the Liberals were only 545 votes behind the winning Conservative, and the NDP got only 9.4%. If I lived in Newmarket I'd work next door in York-Simcoe, where Keswick actually has some low-income voters, the NDP got 12.2%, and the Liberals are no threat to the Conservative who won with 56.7%. Either that, or go work in a winnable riding downtown.

At least in principle, what's the matter with at least trying to get to the near side of 10% from the far side of 10%? Even in losing causes, it's worth maximizing the NDP vote to the best of one's ability--and you get to know the community in the process...
Fair analysis Wilf. Although it is much further to get to Keswick than Oak Ridges. Calandra barely beat Temelovski last time. It's funny seeing seeing Temelovski using "re-elect" signs.

I passed them all on and I suggested that she may have a shot at a nomination in October provincially if there are any ridings there without nominations. I'd like to see her in a debate with a Con-- I'd almost feel sorry for the bugger-- almost.
Hope she doesn't go entirely Green before then...
When you stand as a candidate you absolutely must take and respond to all calls offering help-- fast. Otherwise just don't do it.

Well said if the Liberals want Harper gone they can come to me because I wont ever go to them. They can vote NDP if that is the only reason they are voting because I am voting for something different.
