Who are the necons / worthless members of the liberal party?

^^ in the title topic.

Doug

It might be an easier and shorter discussion to identify the progressive Liberals as there's fewer of them.

@Doug:

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joyce Murray in Van Quadra was a Gordon Campbell Cabinet Minister.

i think all the liberals in Toronto are useless. I am bias.

And also all of the scarborough liberals are social conservatives who are anti-gay and anti-transgender bigots and they get away with it unfortunately.

I believe she was the one that oversaw the elimination of the Ministry of the Environment, the name has since switched back but the Ministry jobs haven't.

All of the NFLD Liberal MPs voted for the Harper budget that punished Nfld to the tune of $1.6 billion? in changes to the Atlantic Accord as retaliation for not electing Conservative MPs.

None of these MPs are "worthless" but here are some knocks on them. Note that MANY of them are from the GTA/905 belt.

Scott Brison is very right wing economically. He picks up the cause of many corporate lobbies. All of the Scarborough Liberals are socially conservative, anti-gay rights types.

Denis Coderre has been a major recruiter of right-wing types to the PLC. He sought out several members of the xenophobic ADQ and the now infamous white supremacist André Forbes to run for the PLC in this election.

Ruby Dhalla is an MP more famous for alleged nanny abuse and her love of the limelight than her duties as an MP.

Hedy Fry continues winning despite her comments about crosses burning on lawns in Price George (false race-baiting statement). Like Ruby Dhalla she also wants/wanted to be Liberal leader.

Marc Garneau is weapons payload expert by career choice

Ralph Goodale has a career of splitting the vote to elect Conservative governments in Saskatchewan, including the criminally charged, fraudulent government of Grant Devine that nearly bankrupted the province and forced massive cuts to health care and public services

Keith Martin (retiring) is an ex-Reformer, ex-Alliance leadership candidate, ex-Conservative, ex-junior Liberal cabinet minister whose lifetime cause in Parliament was to open up medicare to some form of privatization.

John McCallum is the former chief economist of a Bay Street bank.

Joe Volpe signs up dead people to vote for him.

Paul Szabo is another social rightwinger.

Mario Silva came out of the closet after winning election in a race where his gay NDP opponent was slurred and Silva said nothing.

And incidentally, a former supporter of the NDP.

Maybe this thread should be more accurately titled:

Which Liberals will the Conservatives temp to cross the floor (ala David Emerson) for a cabinet post after the up-coming election?

I'd think Tonks would be a certainty, since I don't think he'll be running again, but who else?

Who wouldn't? >95% of the Liberal MPs are only in it for the prestige and/or power.

This video lists every reliably progressive member of the Liberal Party of Canada.

Q: How many progressive Liberals can you stuff in a phone booth?

A:  All of them.

Malcolm Malcolm's picture

"All of them" implies that there are far more of them than anyone has ever seen.

I think this will be Tonks's last election, whatever happens. If he wins with a reduced vote count, he'll hear the orchestra starting to drown him out and a hook appearing from stage left. A byelection will be called, and he will introduce the Liberal candidate ... Chris Tonks.

If he loses (now not out of the question, given the numbers) then Mike Sullivan will face Tonks, Mk II in the next election.

Tonks has been an absolute embarrassment to the party, and to Canada.
