Well we know now that Libya's populist revolutionaries want to setup a central bank and apparently to facilitate laundering US petrodollars. lol!

"Either way the Canadians and Americans and Brits and France and Egypt have no business interfering in the affairs of a sovereign country. If it's a civil war, there is still no justification for foreign interference except for maybe aid and relief. But any military assistance or similar interference is against international law since Nuremberg. Why is this so difficult to understand? Do we need a redo of WW II as a reminder as to why it's wrong? 50-83 million dead? No thnx."

I understand. It's pretty easy to understand why any leftist would oppose bombardment of Libya.
I just think that in presenting the conflict as a war between two anti democratic groups and by not mentioning groups that are more socialistically inclined, and oppose Gadhafi and the Americans, we are in fact straying dangerously close to orientalism, and the idea that Libya is nothing but an oil-rich sand pit, filled with racist, violent, supremely gullible pricks. Am I making myself clear?

No.

I'm more confused than ever.

As someone who is antiwar and anti-interventionist, I look at it this way; if we all agree that imperialism is morally wrong and the war of aggression we are waging on Libya is not only immoral but also illegal, then why

1. The interest in the affairs of Libya and Libyans, which should be nobody's business but the Libyans and,

2. The (sometimes stated, sometimes unstated) urge for the military interference and to provide justification for it?

I should really read all of the most recent posts. Sorry...

Sure, and to set the record straight we also opposed the luftwaffe's blitzkriegs over the former Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. And now we oppose their aerial attacks on human beings in Libya.

How would you like it if luftwaffe drones fired rockets into your neighborhood and took out a few of your friends and family? Would you finally say enough is enough?

Fidel, I understand. I'm on your team. Now would you please shut up?
