Emperor Obama vs the Arab people
Obama's attempt to deny the hatred that Arabs feel towards the United States and Israel because of the actions of these two countries is nothing short of the continued refusal of the United States and Israel (not of Arabs) to take responsibility for their own actions by shifting the blame for the horrendous violence they have inflicted on the region onto their very victims. When Obama and Israel call on Arabs to take responsibility for the state of the region and not blame the US and Israel for it, what they are essentially doing is to refuse to take responsibility for what they have inflicted on Arabs.
Arabs have clearly taken responsibility and have been trying to remove the dictators that the US and Israel have supported for decades - and which they continue to support. The only parties refusing to take responsibility here are the United States and Israel. Obama's speech, sadly, continues this intransigent tradition.

You know the Democrats have really fucked up when the reactionary, ossified union bureaucracy starts criticizing them from the left.
Fat cat bureaucrat Richard Trumka, president of the AFL-CIO, speaking at a nurses' conference on Thursday, tore strips off the Democrats and Obama, calling for an "independent labor movement strong enough to return balance to our economy, fairness to our tax system, security to our families and moral and economic standing to our nation."
“For too long, we’ve been left after Election Day holding a canceled check, waving it about—‘Remember us? Remember us? Remember us?’—asking someone to pay a little attention to us,” recalled Trumka, who like many union leaders was frustrated with the failure of the Obama administration and Democrats in Congress to pass the Employee Free Choice Act and other needed labor law reforms. “Well, I don’t know about you, but [url=http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2011/06/09-1]I’ve had a snootful of that shit![/url]”
It remains to be seen whether Trumka and the rest of the union brass establishment will put their money where their mouth is and call for the formation of an independent labour party.

And that, with their ambition and their pragmatism, led them to embrace a system in which there is this type of fundamental inequality of power, and attempt to, as he did as a, as an organizer of the poor in Chicago. What he used to do was he would bring poor women from the Southside into a boardroom where the elite of the Democratic Party establishment in Illinois would sit. He’d put them in a room. He’d say, work out a solution, and walk out the door, as if you could work out a solution that way. And they would throw some crumbs at those poor women.
