Puzzled over Libya

Quote:
The city of Benghazi woke up to fierce shooting Friday morning, as the news of Younis' death spread confusion and suspicion in the city.

Ok, I think what we need is a no-fly zone over Benghazi. Then we fly over Benghazi and bomb it continuously. The aim would be to protect the Libyan rebels from the fellow Libyan rebels. I think. No, wait, it would be to protect the Benghazi civilians from the fellow Libyan rebels.

Actually, before we bomb, we could run an on-line poll to determine who are the real Libyan rebels and who are the fellow Libyan rebels.

But... now that we recognize the Transitional National Council as the legitimate Libyan government, aren't the erstwhile rebels now actually loyalists? And haven't we already been bombing the shit out of the newly minted Libyan "rebels" (viz. the Gaddafi loyalists, er, rebels, ummm...)?

Ok, we're good. We don't have to change anything.

But whom do we bomb in Benghazi??

NDPP

and when do we settle accounts with Canadian complicity in all this?

Who's gonna protect Benghazi from US/U.S. ?

and whose gonna protect all from the guy in charge, NATO's Canadian General Charles 'The Butcher' Bouchard, who is the one bombing the shit out of Libya.? Oh yeah, I forgot the NDP is going to 'transform NATO from within'...

Canada is 'BIG' in this evil Libya adventure and yet there is a barely there reflection of this - and not only in the MSM either...the country appears to be almost completely pacified and passive on virtually every significant foreign policy issue there is. [not to mention the domestic ones as well !] Lots of belly but not much fire....pretty much sleptwalked through the AFghanistan butchery and continues on through this Libyan fiasco - virtually zero attempt to hold the politicians accountable at all.  Wilful blindness or collaboration seems  almost automatic. Selling out is second nature.  Doesn't bode well for the vicious and developing class war coming...

Yes, indeed.

Letting the fox protect the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Where the "goose" is Libya and the "golden eggs" are its oil.

It seems like the wars on Afghanistan and Libya are the new Korean War - the "Forgotten War(s)."

Occasionally some headline catches public attention, especially at the start. After that most people forget about it/don't follow it anymore.

The few that do care - especially in the case of Afghanistan - care in the wrong way: They believe the bullshit narrative spun by the government, the military and the Fawning Corporate Media (FCM) or mainstream media.

There are the Highway of [War] Criminals/[non]Heroes ghouls who have no personal connection to the war, the military (those who have never served in it) and the (Canadian) dead.

There are the (Canadian) families of the (Canadian christian crusader soldier) dead who also "care" about the war on Afghanistan.

The remainder are fans of Herr Harper and the Conservative Party of Canada and so naturally support the government, the war(s) (I'm thinking at this point of Libya, the most current war) and are part of the "We Support the Troops" crowd. However I think these groups (are an overrepresented by the media) minority.

The remainder are the unstirred and, as yet, unstirable apathetic (to the wars) and uninvolved majority.

Canadians are suffering from head down and ass up disease.  Just the position the bosses like them to be in. We have 800,000 people using food banks for the basic necessities of life and we are spending millions everyday to bomb countries into submission.  That is western democracy and "civilization."

We get little news of the ongoing people's uprisings in Europe but endless talk about the Libyan "freedom fighters."  We get endless right wing talk about how it is terrible that some working people have pensions and benefits therefore they are greedy assholes because they don't have to line up at food banks. Don Cherry has a good retirement fund I'll bet but then he is a slime ball apologist for empire so he "deserves" his riches.

The people of Canada since we had the free trade deals foisted on us have been going backwards.  The US financiers have control of our economy and the sycophants who are in government.  We have endless talking heads telling us the virtues of free trade with America despite the glaring evidence that they are impoverishing the majority of Canadians.
