End Labor Day, says Profit Council

The American Council on Profit today called upon federal and state governments to remove Labor Day from the nation’s list of official holidays.
Carnegie Gould, the Council’s Vice-President for Job Creation said, “As we all know, America’s need for increased productivity and job creation will require sacrifices from us all. To that end, we are today calling upon the President, Congress and the governors and legislatures of the fifty states to embark upon a process of reforming a tradition of excessive paid holidays that business leaders have identified as a roadblock to maintaining America’s preeminent position in an increasingly competitive global economy....

I'd abolish New Year's Day. Every year, every president, every day in the U.S. is the same old.
ETA: Re "Labour Day", it's a f***ing U.S. invention which was historically used to divert North American workers away from joining the rest of the world in celebrating May Day. In Québec, we celebrate May Day. I'm with the Council on Profit. Abolish "Labour Day".

Rebecca - women workers are women and workers. International Women's Day is March 8. International Workers' Day is May 1. "Labour Day" is what I said it was upthread. It should not be used to "recognize" women, any more than male workers. This is an issue we have fought over for years in the union movement, and it's worth fighting for. It doesn't matter which forum some man decided to open this thread in. "Labour Day" is both anti-worker and anti-women in its very essence.
Let me know if my opinion on this matter is "illegitimate", Rebecca.

There is nothing "illegitimate" about your perspective - there's just no feminist perspective or analysis in it. In fact, you don't even mention women in your content until the above-quoted post (after my criticism). There are plenty of threads where you guys can argue all you want about the legitimacy of Labour Day.
