Ankara is recalling its ambassador and freezing political visits as well as joint military projects, including exercises, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.
The bill was passed by the French National Assembly on Thursday and is due to go before the Senate next year.
French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe has publicly opposed it.
Under the bill, those publicly denying genocide would face a year in jail and a fine of 45,000 euros (£29,000; $58,000). [...]
Mr Erdogan told reporters: "This is politics based on racism, discrimination and xenophobia.
"This is using Turkophobia and Islamophobia to gain votes, and it raises concerns regarding these issues not only in France but all Europe."

this whole business of countries passing laws in relation to denying genocides in other countries is pretty ridiculous. How about focusing on your own murderous history, or working to prevent simialr atrocities from happening RIGHT NOW?
perhaps they should be passing laws about denying the european genocide of FN people or the millions upon millions of innocent africans who have died, been murdered and tortured because of european colonization, etc, etc...

Right on. This is rather typical of the French for whom their colonial past was a .mission civilatrice. Turkey is now talking about the French genocide in Algeria. But we've got some of these genocide people here in Montreal at Concordia, a Dr. Chalk.
