But by August 1998, two neighboring states, Rwanda and Uganda, aligned with ethnic forces inside the Congo, (and backed by Washington) invaded several towns and cities. Both invading countries charged Kabila with ‘corruption’ and human rights violations, and with being ‘undemocratic.’
“Both [u]Rwanda and Uganda are governed by de facto military regimes. Both governments are hosts to U.S. military training facilities and U.S. military personnel.[/u] The Congo has been regarded by leading scientists and economists as one of the most mineral-rich countries in the world. It contains roughly 70 percent of the world’s cobalt. More than half of the U.S. military’s cobalt comes from the Congo. It is the second largest producer of diamonds in the world and is known for large deposits of gold, manganese, and copper. The Congo’s peculiar type of high-grade uranium was used by the U.S. to make the atom bombs that were dropped on Japan in WWII. And the U.S. dominates mining in that area even today.”[11]

Over six million people have been killed in the Democratic Republic of Congo in the deadliest conflict since the Second World War.A study published by the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in January 2008 said that 5.4 million people had died from 1998 to 2007 in Congo, with 45,000 more victims being added to the death toll every month.
With Congo's war showing no signs of abating, this would put the death toll at 6.9 million today.

I'm not understanding what your concerns are regarding holocaust in the Congo. The NDP says the Harpers have basically abandoned the Congo and other desperately poor countries as far as foreign aid is concerned. And the Harpers/Libs only send Canadian troops to wherever Uncle Sam instructs them to in colonial administrative manner. Basically everything is going according to Murder Inc.'s plan while a holocaust of millions of black Africans continues unfolding in the Congo since 1997.
So turn that frown upside down.
The NDP says Canada needs to send aid to the Congo, and that Canadian mining companies operating there need to be monitored not given free reign to loot and abscond with the country's wealth.

And the NDP's list of things to do in terms of aid and cooperation for the Congo is more compatible with Macharia's list of needs than the Harpers or NATO countries collective pledge to do nothing - just like the Atlantic Alliance did nothing to liberate the killing factories near Kracow in the 1940s.
