Voters in Vancouver East have many problems that Libby is well equipped to work on. On a scale of one to ten, how many of them would put Palestinian issues on the scale at all?

That's kind of funny, coming from the guy who told babblers that the problem with the left is that babblers weren't talking about internal state elections in India. ;)

Good point. But that wasn't really what I was saying; I was saying that very few Canadians with origins in India are on babble. Similarly, very few Canadians with origins in Palestine seem to be on babble either. I'll make you a deal; I'll stop posting about India if you stop posting about Palestine. No, I'm not serious. Kashmir and Palestine remain flashpoints whatever babblers think. Sadly, not many Canadian voters care enough about either.

Sadly many Canadian voters do not care about the conflicts or famines in Kashmir, Palestine, Congo, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Ethiopia, Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Thailand, or anywhere else, and the party rarely comments on most of them.

Northern-54

Here is my prediction for the third ballot:

Mulclair        25,700

Topp           21, 500

Cullen:        15,800

Lard Tunderin Jeezus Lard Tunderin Jeezus's picture

Hear, hear, genstrike!

If very few Canadians care about Palestine, then why is the NDP so afraid to take a principled position on it?  Why did Libby Davies have to apologize, why did Mulcair make it an issue, why did DiNovo condemn IAW, why did Pat Martin and Judy W-L sit on the CPCCA, why do local NDP MLAs speak at pro-massacre rallies and call for the banning of anti-racist events on campus?  I'm sure any NDP member of any significance who were to even utter the phrase "Israeli apartheid" would find themselves quickly on the outs with the mothership.

It just seems odd to me that this formulation is used to paper over differences on the question of Israeli apartheid raised by anti-apartheid babblers and lefties, but it's never used to tell pro-apartheid NDPers "Hey Tom, no one cares, so STFU"
