It's not really a big deal, he wasn't elected to anything before switching. Besides, Liberal/Tory same old story?

This story is over a year old!!

Isn't the current leader of the NDP a former Liberal. Ohh that is right, Liberal/Tory/NDP same old song and dance.

The Quebec Librals have no connection to the federal Liberals, they are just a big tent party for anyone who is against another divisive referendum on sovereignty

Liberal/Tory/NDP, just the same old cup of tea?

I assume the original comment was being directed at the Federal NDP, since Andrea Horwath was never a member of the Liberal Party.  She has always been a solid New Democrat, to my knowledge.

Regarding Mulcair, he was never a member of the federal Liberals.  In fact, he's been quite critical of the Federal Liberals.  Given that he was not a sovereigntist, provincially he really had little choice but to be part of the provincial Liberal Party there (since there is no provincial NDP in Quebec).  He resigned from them when he found they were not progressive enough for him, and instead ran for the federal NDP.  This was leaving a secure spot with the provincial Liberals for a very risky spot with the NDP -- it was quite the surprise when he won his riding of Outremont.  So, I would argue that it's not the same old song and dance (or cup of tea).  Instead, it's the story of a progressive who found his proper place with a truly progressive party.

So whether it rhymes or not, the sentiment is incorrect.

Sometimes it takes news longer to travel to North.

Oh, and he LOST lol

Correct.  Rocco Rossi lost in last year's provincial election, as did the other turncoat, Tony Genco.  Both threw temper tantrums and were arrogant enough to join themselves to Tim Hudak's sinking ship.  Both had their asses handed to them by the McGuinty Liberals and the voters in Vaughan and Eglinton-Lawrence.

Mike Colle beat Rocco Rossi 54 to 33, and

Greg Sorbara beat Tony Genco 53 to 31.
