Jews For Romney  -  by Lawrence Solomon

"Democrats beware: Jewish money is on the move..."

A classic smoke, but no fire, article.

Michelle

Holy fuck.  Anti-semitic much, Financial Post?  What the hell kind of subheadline is that?

Well, I guess non-Jewish Democrat true-believers will know who to scapegoat now if Obama loses this election.  The reason won't be because Obama pretty much betrayed every progressive principle every progressive person either expected or wanted him to defend during his first term.  It won't be because he royally fucked up on bringing in universal health care, and instead delivered a nicely-wrapped present to private insurance companies.  No, if Obama loses, it'll supposedly be because of "Jewish money on the move", the subheadline to the FP article.

Unbelievable.

A quarter of Obama's amazing fundraising last time around came from millions of grassroots supporters around the country giving less than $200 each to his campaign through his website.  And now we're supposed to believe that 67% of his fundraising (one estimate given in the article) came from rich Jewish donors?

Republican Democrats: The Real Barack Obama  -  by Louis Proyect

http://louisproyect.wordpress.com/2012/07/14/republican-democrats/

"...Obama is laying the groundwork for abandoning the New Deal-type safety net in the name of 'reform', even if his most ardent and self-deceiving supporters continue to hold out hope that he will live up to his promises.."

Controversial Romney Fundraisers in London and Jerusalem

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=31907

"Next week, presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, will hold controversial fundraisers in London and Jerusalem as part of his international itinerary. Romney insiders are saying privately that the primary purpose for Romney's international jaunt is his determination to raise more funds than President Obama.."

How is he doing that? The article offers absolutely nothing to substantiate the assertion. I'm all for a critical assessment of Obama's presidency, but throwing around the broadest of statements like that without the requisite underlying evidence and analysis just makes you sound silly. This Lawrence Solomon, who has discovered that rich Jews run the world, is the same one that writes articles calling for the invasion of Somalia and condemning "global-warning alarmism".

I think, NDPP, that if you want to cite more or less factual news sources about Jews moving their money around, go ahead and do so, but not shitbags like this guy.

Anyway, I'm shifting $20 in cash from my shirt drawer to the plates cupboard. Hope that doesn't unduly influence the Bank of Canada's upcoming interest rate announcement.

CNN had a segment on today about how Romney wants to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital, and is open to moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Romney's a Mormon, but it's sounding more like he's a pawn of the Religious Right.

Obama and Romney Should Stop Competing for Zionist Support

http://gulfnews.com/opinions/editorials/obama-and-romney-should-stop-com...

"...But as the American campaign for the presidency gets into top gear, both Obama and Romney will go out of their way to tell their Jewish voters repeatedly that they respect Israel. It is part of the Zionist lobby's success that they have managed to link Judaism in the US to Zionism and unflinching support for Israel, regardless of its government's policies.."

That visit, which ranks among the all time most groveling, led to even Zionist media outlets including the New York Times and Washington Post dissing Mitt's trip as 'unpresidential'..."

Romney's Veep Choice: Paul Ryan, Koch Ally and 'Right-Wing Social Engineer'

In making the risky choice of picking Rep. Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney seals the deal on the Koch brothers' takeover of the Republican Party.

Fidel

They've employed similar strategy in Afghanistan with Afghans reduced to choosing between mujahideen criminals and warlords in government and their right wing religious fundamentalist cousins, the Taliban.

I think more Americans are beginning to realize that the one-two party system run by Wall Street and the superrich is no more democratic than one-party rule in the former USSR. It's just two right wings of the same party "running" for cosmetic government while the Military dictatorship is constant in the shadows.

howeird beale

Yes, yes, baa baa, woof, woof. We should scrap elections and worship a president-for-life. It's not the choices in an election like this we should hold in contempt, it's democracy itself. Everything should be decided for us by a panel of our social betters. We are only deluding ourselves by participating in social movements, elections, government, anything.

No one buys that authoritarian socialist nonsense anymore. it's about as big a hit nowadays as scientology. And as about as helpful in terms of its social prescriptions.

autoworker autoworker's picture

Putting Ryan on the ticket brings the Tea Party into the mainstream. It also energizes the conservative base for the House and Senate races. A lot a can happen between now and November.

GOP to run two boring white guys. Laughing

Thanks very much, Boom Boom. Obama might be disappointing, constrained by a system constructed by the founding fathers to hobble any movement for change, too timid, whatever... But to say there's no difference between him and someone like the Randian Ryan is naive.

Ryan also has been presented all day as just a typical middle class mid-west kid. A little quick research reveals this is baloney:

Today, Ryan Inc. Central is one of the largest earthmoving firms in the country, building everything from home sites to golf courses to landfills to wetlands.

http://paulryan.house.gov/news/documentprint.aspx?DocumentID=272465

This happens a lot of course. Margaret Wente in the Globe removed a bunch of equestrian class, old-money details from her online bio. Being born into inherited affluence made her finger wagging at the masses look rather distasteful, not to mention ungrateful, I suppose.

Erin Burnett has a laughable ad on CNN where she descibes herself as 'growing up in a small town.' She of course omits that she was the daughter of a corporate attorney, went to an elite private boarding school, worked for Goldman "Thieves R Us" Sacks or is married to a bigshot at Citigroup.

Just a small-town gal. Aw shucks.

Perhaps her connections to companies who Obama had to bail out, whose messes he has to clean up, would taint her nightly admonition to Obama regarding the US credit rasting.

Ryan, on the same note, grew up fabulously rich. His family made their millions from highway contruction. In other words, from the benefit of government infrastructure spending. Not only has he fed at the public trough his entire professional career, so too have his family, for generations.

But he wants to blow up the government.

Talk about ungrateful.

And millions have lost faith in American and Canaidan democracy. The Americans have lower voter turnouts than we do, and Canada ranks 109th out of 179 countries. The U.S. and even Canada rank poorly in a number of social and economic measures. The right is able to do it with money and buying elections. How else could just 24% of eligible voters give 110% of political power to our corrupt stooges in Ottawa? The Washington lobby system of government is even more corrupt in the USA - not even the USSR was drowning in this much national debt by 1989. What we are seeing today is the decline of the last vicious empire. No nation can survive corruption from within.

howeird beale

Yeah. I didn't realize our democracy was fucked up. I thought we lived in a utopian paradise. You constantly present me with revelatory insights that never crossed my mind.

'Last empire.' indeed. Quite right. China is not the new hegemon. They have no imperial ambitions. The polestar that guides them is love.

You're smart. Yes you are. Your hectoring and repetitive posts are fascinating.

Fidel

Well if China is what US newz rags would have you believe it is, then why is it that China is surrounded militarily and not the USA where China bashing is in vogue and esp. since the collapse of laissez-faire capitalism part three since 2008?

Yes I agree that something is fucked-up. Perhaps you should take another look. It will take some sifting through the self-serving empire feel good rhetoric, but truth will find you if you let it.

howeird beale

Your recitation of the catechism does not become more compelling from its repetition.

Its not going to attract an increasing number of acolytes.

Its predictions of impending Gotterdamerung and subsequent jubilee is no more interesting that the exact same story structure I was fed in church.

Jesus isn't coming.

Its reconstitution of Carlyle's Great Man theory is no less tuckered-out despite the fig leaf of social justice it wears.

Fidel

I've gleaned your comments in this thread, and you've managed to say exactly nothing interesting.

The truth is that all two of the presidential candidates for the exact same political party of big business and the military are so totally owned before the election is run makes mock of the entire thread subject. Everyone and their dog knows who will win well beforehand.

howeird beale

Great. Agreed. I'm boring back. Good one! Then its settled.

Now why not let people get back to discussing specific points about this race rather than fatiguing everyone with your threadbare all-purpose nostrums?

anyway, Romney's choice of a real fiscal ideologue in Paul Ryan sharpens the edges of the campaign, with Obama campaign pros thrilled, but Repubs also delighted; a hard thing to achieve:

Not a suprise that Romney would chose Ryan. If you give a Republican nominee a choice of five names, at least nine times out of ten he will pick the most evil fucker in the bunch.

And Ryan, an Ayn Rand devotee, is evil. His budget would end Medicare as we know it, slash social spending, all the while cutting taxes for the top 1%. Like the man who selected him.

Romney's campaign was in the toilet, and his attacks on Obama over the economy were going nowhere.

We'll now see how stupid American voters can be.

If they choose the one percenter to represent them, God help all of us. Except the one per cent that is, as they won't need God's help.

Wall Street got the VP candidate they wanted, but it is interesting that so many right-wingers are upset with Romney's choice of Paul Ryan.
