Paul Ryan has pulled the plug on Twisted Sister's 1984 hit We’re Not Gonna Take It after the band's frontman denounced the Republican vice-presidential running mate, who used the song at a Pennsylvania rally.

Dee Snider asked that the rebellious rock anthem be disassociated from the political campaign, saying there is "almost nothing" Ryan stands for that he agrees with.

"I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan's use of my band Twisted Sister's song, We’re Not Gonna Take It, in any capacity," Snider said in a statement posted to the Talking Points Memo website.

And, as with Scott, there's the issue of optics. If Republican donors and delegates are seen whooping and partying it up as Floridians are left in the dark due to downed powerlines, it just might not look good. So don't be surprised if the first day of the convention is canceled Monday as well.

We'll know more at 6:45 p.m. when Mitt Romney consultant Russ Schriefer, who's handling RNC logistics, holds a conference call. Chances are, there are more cancellations coming.

2012 US Elections: Obamney vs. Rombama War, economic collapse and poverty await Americans no matter who they vote for

Quote:
The foreign policy of both Obama and Romney is written by the exact same corporate-financier funded think-tanks that have written the script for America's destiny for the last several decades.

Bush = Obama = Romney

The US Military regime has been clever about electing successive cosmetic leaders since WW II with swapping them out for new ones every two terms or so for appearance sake. In effect they are all the same corporate stooge.

Slumberjack

Both national leaders and prospective national leaders everywhere have to be acceptable and on good terms with the global financial rackets, or else they're swapped out by regime change or denied access to the brass ring.

But an element of their party has pitched so far to the extreme right on issues important to women, immigrants, seniors and students that they've proven incapable of governing for the people. Look no further than the inclusion of the Akin amendment in the Republican Party platform, which bans abortion, even for rape victims.

The truth is that the party has failed to demonstrate the kind of leadership or seriousness voters deserve.

To make things worse a Republican Judge has public suggested an Obama victory could cause a civil war. He thinks Obama plans on using UN troops to invade the USA. Worse he thinks Police Deputies could fight off such a force so he's preposing to raise sales taxes to pay for them. Crrrrazzzzzy.

Holy fuck:   A Troubling Chant on the Convention Floor

Zoraida Fonalledas, the chairwoman of the Committee on Permanent Organization—took her turn at the main-stage lectern. As she began speaking in her accented English, some in the crowd started shouting “U.S.A.! U.S.A.!”

The chanting carried on for nearly a minute while most of the other delegates and the media stood by in stunned silence. The Puerto Rican correspondent turned to me and asked, “Is this happening?” I said I honestly didn’t know what was happening—it was astonishing to see all the brittle work of narrative construction that is a modern political convention suddenly crack before our eyes. None of us could quite believe what we were seeing: A sea of twentysomething bowties and cowboy hats morphing into frat bros apparently shrieking over (or at) a Latina. RNC chairman Reince Priebus quickly stepped up and asked for order and respect for the speaker, suggesting that, yeah, what we had just seen might well have been an ugly outburst of nativism.

For the, there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats crowd:

"The 2012 Republican platform is far more radical. For starters, it embodies the Ryan plan for Medicare. It would change the current system, which pays doctors and hospital bills, to a system in which seniors are given vouchers and told to go get their own insurance, if they can. It calls for English to become the country's official language, a plank the Democrats are sure to harp on in Spanish-language ads in Florida, Colorado, and Nevada. The platform supports displaying the ten commandments in public places but it is more noteworthy for what it opposes. The items include big government, high taxes, same-sex marriage, limits on how many bullets a gun magazine can hold, and all abortions, including abortions for rape victims."

They must appear different for the 2-party hegemony to work properly. The Republicans are only calling for cuts to future spending increases and would not cut enough to get back to a budget surplus. That is why Ron Paul calls them fake conservatives. All the social legislation is what gets their base fired up and fires up the liberal base and judging from your posts it is working. But as we have seen, Obama has continued many of Bush's policies. He has done some socially progressive things like repealing Don't ask don't tell and supporting gay marriage, which is good. I mean he had to do something to show that he is still a democrat. But seriously, the Dems and Reps are run by the same people, the bankers.

With Obama the military will continue sucking another trillion dollars from budgetary spending every year. And with Romney, it'll be a trillion dollars plus. Both are jockeying for cosmetic leadership of the country.   U.S. elections are like a choice between strychnine and cyanide. Four more wars and poverty in store for tens of millions while the richest Romans continue sacking and looting America. They've reached the stage when capitalists are feeding on the corpse. It's finished.

Let clear away some of the confusion. Yes Republican Democract same old story, but this isn't Republicans vs. Democracts, its Tea Party vs. Democracts.

The Tea party isn't just greedy and morally bankrupt, its, extremely bat shit crazy.

This is

a battle between the sane vs. The insane, not, left vs. right.

So Yes I hope I hope Obama wins, dispit what a.terrible job he's done, because the Tea party is psychotic.

I'm sorry, but maybe someone can explain to me what the problem with Eastwood's speech was.

For the first two thirds of it I don't think he said anything that someone criticizing Obama from the left would not have said.

Arguing AGAINST the opponent rather than FOR your guy  is hardly a ringing endorsement.

We all know what his stance is on marriage equality, so it was an awkward fit, and a bad decision on Eastwood's part. This is the best the GOP can do?

And most importantly, everyone is talking about him today, not Mitt Romney.

It's all fine by me.

 Eastwooding!

Eastwooding" takes off on social media

Shortly after Clint Eastwood's conversation with an invisible President Obama sitting in a chair at the Republican National Convention, "Eastwooding" became an instant online pop culture hit.

This one is my favorite so far;

Yes. I've noticed all kinds of references to age and mental health on FB and elsewhere too. I guess that kind of chatter is okay when we are talking about people who consort with the enemy.

(to be clear, I'm not saying some of it isn't funny. Just the jokes about senility, which I think were just gratuitous and without foundation).

I haven't seen any about age or senility. Just woke up to a bunch of pictures or people pointing at empty chairs on my feed.  Took a few minutes to figure out why. lol   I haven't watched the clip of the performance. I doubt I will.  The chair stuff and articles are enough to get the jist of it.

The Invisible Obama twitter feed is good for some giggles too, especially the commentary during Mitt's speech.

"One nation! Under God! Invisible!"

"I'm behind Mitt! No seriously. I'm right behind him."

"Global warming's invisible too? Oh it's on now."

The problem with spending so much time on Eastwood is that we avoid critical analysis of Romney.

I dunno, from the couple news clips I've seen and bits that I've read he didn't say anything new.  There wasn't a whole lot of platform in his speech.  Lots of Obama bashing, even a birth certificate 'joke', dogwhistles, vote for me I'm nice and rah rah USA USA USA stuff. Oh and the required the," GOP loves women! Really we do! I remember my mother talking about women voting..." blah diddty blah.   I probably wouldn't bother to pay attention to it at all if this Eastwood thing hadn't happened.

6079_Smith_W

Of all people, Romney should not be making references to the "birther" nonsense.

His father ran for president, and it is an established fact that he was born in Mexico, in a polygamist refugee colony.

Beyond everything else, he is an ignorant , hypocritical creep to sell into that nonsense that has nothing to do with the campaign.

But is does. He has to show that part of his base that he's with them.  It's pretty much a requirement for any of their candidates these days.  The birth certifcate joke though subtle serves to make all the 'he's a foreigner, muslim, socialist, traitor, nwo and omg black black black gah' believers happy  because it encompasses it all in one little supposed issue.

6079_Smith_W

To clarify - it has as much to do with the campaign and the politics of the nation as the fact that Barack Obama is only part white. The motive for playing into it is purely discriminatory. And it is even worse because Romney's father and former presidential candidate actually has less cred as an American than Obama.
