Hi, I am sure most of you know that I brought up this topic before but I felt that
important discussions did not happen with the topic and I thought I would bring up
relevant information on how such a topic could have a lot more information be discussed.
The way that can happen is by mentioning does anyone know what the radical centre
is and as a party we have thought about abandoning our moderate conservative platforms
and being a party just at the centre which means we want to take good ideas from the left
and the right so it is not just a one way street.
What radical centre means to us is we feel that the best way to govern in this country
is at the centre and this means being practical and advocating for a fiscally responsible,
socially progressive party that wants to focus on the essentials such as health, education,
the environment, the economy and democracy as our main areas of focus since we want a
single-tiered health care system, investments in post secondary education and make sure
we go to a green economy and put a price on carbon to make ourselves more competitive
and be more fuel efficient so we can build the industries of tomorrow in this country so we
do not lag behind. That is what such a party would bring.
On the democracy front we feel the best way to be is to advocate for prop rep
on the House of Commons and for the Senate. The best way to go about making
sure this party is successful is to present ourselves as a moderate centrist party of the
radical centre that wants to build a strong coalition of people under one tent and talk
about the issues and to bring civility to the House of Commons and to ban attack ads
and form compromises with the other parties. That is the best way to go about bringing
back people into our electoral system.
In terms of the economy we cannot be just to one specific area on the economy we want
to have balance here as well so we do not just focus on one thing we feel that focusing on
one side just leads to more instability and we need to be pragmatic especially on the
economy and focus on a policy that will strengthen the middle class, create jobs for all
Canadians, focus on reducing the debt and deficit, lower taxes for low and middle income
Canadians and create fairness for all Canadians. That is how you make sure all sides
are met. You cannot play to your base but instead work to satisfy all sides by giving a
little relief to all. Also when doing so you must as a party make sure the poor and
disadvantaged are taken into account.
That is how you build a party of the radical centre and to find out more check
