Israel Attacks Gaza: Counting on West's Support (and vid)

http://www.presstv.com/detail/2012/11/13/271943/israel-attacks-gaza-coun...

"Israel has always initiated deadly attacks on the besieged coastal territory, counting on the support of the West..."

It would appear that Netanyahu wishes to ensure his re-election in the tried and true method of Zionists - murdering some more Palestinians. It has already begun and some are predicting CAST LEAD REDUX...

Israel's Latest Assault on Gaza: The Lie of Who Started It  -  by John Glaser

"...As in every vicious military offensive Israel carries out in Gaza, the dominant narrative is that it is a response to rocket fire from Gaza into southern Israel. This is how it's being reported in the US, and this is how virtually every American understands it.

And it's a lie..."

Updates From Gaza Under Zionist Attack    -   by Eva Bartlett

http://ingaza.wordpress.com/2012/11/14/updates-from-gaza-under-zionist-a...

Ken Burch

Israel needs to stop its attacks on Gaza immediately(and end all restrictions on freedom of movement for the people of Gaza AND the delivery of relief supplies to Gaza).

At the same time, Hamas needs to stop the rocket attacks on Sderot and Sfad.  Those attacks have never done anything to make Israel change what it is doing to Gaza, have never contributed to the Palestinian independence cause in the slightest, and have only harmed people who bore no personal responsibility for Israeli persecution of Gazans.

Neither side's leadership is doing anything positive or defensible here...and the civilians on both sides are innocent victims of the corrupt, arrogant stupidity.

The only side a decent person can take in this is the side of peace, justice, reconciliation and equality...a side neither the Israeli government NOR Hamas will ever support-taking this side is the only way to take the side of the civilians of Gaza and of Israel, and the civilians of the human race in general.

A plague on the houses of both leaderships...victory to the people!

It's not about wanting anyone to be Gandhi...just about wanting leaders in all major factions(Israel, West Bank, Gaza)who aren't murderous life-hating bastards.

The people of all three entities deserve better than that.

One side is trying to commit genocide and ethnic cleansing.  I wish no one would kill but you know I would never tell someone else that it is partly their fault that their neighbor kills their children and bombs their neighborhoods with the most sophisticated military ordinance ion the planet. .  Was Palestine's skirt to short or her veil too long?   Israel is a rape culture and its citizens elect people who demand violence be done.  A pox on the imperialist colonizers. There is no relativity in this struggle there is an evil occupying force and a people who have all lost members of their families to this decades long tragedy.

I think is disrespectful of the Palestinian people to presume to tell them how to fight against such an evil regime.

Ken Burch

I was saying it was their leaders' fault...Nothing in my post was about the rank-and-file Gazans themselves.

Nothing Hamas is doing can ever liberate the people of Gaza or Palestine-Hamas itself(its leaders)is just as much about rape culture as any Israeil party...it has no positive, social-progressive vision...no program for ending any oppression at all.  It just wants to win a war.  And just winning a war isn't anything.

Hamas has never cared about the people of Gaza...just as Israeli political parties don't care about the people of Israel.

I'll pass your advice on to the rank and file Gazans I know Ken. I'm sure they'll seriously consider the error of their ways, including their ecstatic celebrations at sending Bibi Netanyahu and others in the Jewish State scurrying for their bomb shelters. Just imagine how excited they will be to receive such advice at this critical juncture. So, let me get this right: THeir government only wants to win a war and winning a war isn't anything. Yep, straight from a genuine Canadian progressive. That oughta make them buck up and think on the error of their ways, for sure. Solidarity forever right? Oh and stop with the rockets. I think they've heard that before...Is this what is meant by 'hasbarah' Ken, or is it just obvious and ordinary bullshit arising out of some rather obvious conflicts and contradictions in  position here?

Ken Burch

Not hasbarah at all(and I'm a Yank leftist, if that fact has slipped your mind).  And it doesn't conflict with solidarity to say that the rocket attacks on the innocents in Sderot and Askelon launched by the Hamas leaders(it isn't ordinary Gazan civilians launching them)are stupid and need to stop.  Those attacks are not as bad as what Israel does, but they're still wrong and they're still pointless.

If those rockets haven't helped the Gazans gain freedom yet, they never will.  Some other tactics are needed.  Why defend what we all know doesn't work?  There's no solidarity in saying nothing about a totally failed strategy. Tactics that don't ever lead to gains aren't worth defending and aren't effective means of resistance.

And I always made it clear that the rockets didn't justify what the Israelis do to Gaza.  The Israelis are in the wrong and are the main wrong-doers.

kropotkin1951

There is no solidarity in telling other people how to fight their life and death battles.  There is also no moral relativity in occupation. One side is wrong and evil. This is not a battle between two evils.

Your response is merely a more subtle variety of American Exceptionalism.  Ken why do you think you can tell a society that is 60 years into collective PTSD how they should respond to their abusers.  Don't you see the arrogance in that?  It is akin to saying really don't like my neighbour beating his wife and raping his daughter but I really wish that the wife and daughters would not resort to senseless violence in response. Those attacks are not as bad as what he does, but they're still wrong and they're still pointless.

Unionist

Very very well said, kropotkin.

One of the questions is that with its very powerful army Israel can win the battle but it cannot win the war. The Palestinians are not going away. Hamas is not going away. Israel cannot produce and maintain calm for Israelis if it occupies Gaza.

Israel Wants 'A Land With No People' (and vid)

"Israel is the only entity in the world that has not declared its borders because land theft drives its agenda and it doesn't have enough yet, says an analyst.."

Land without a people was what the early Zionist dreamed of but it isn't possible . Moreover every poll in Israel finds that the overwhelming majority acknowledge that the Palestinians exist as a people and are not going anywhere.
