I've seen nothing in the MSM about this except in French:

Government spokespersons said this is being done to avoid "overlap" in online sources; that the portal was begun in 2001 when it was more difficult to find resources and services; and that it has nothing to do with the Indigenous protest movement.
Well, that's a relief.
