World Radio Day - February 13
Isn't it just like me to first hear of World Radio Day one day late.
It's only the second one, having been created by a UNESCO resolution in November 2011. And it seems strange, but delightful, that it should have been born so late in radio's life.
In honour of WRD, the NFB blog posted this 17-minute film survey of CBC Radio in 1949:
Wow. I'm surprised you're the one who posted this thread! Heh.
I'm happy to have helped make the waning hours of Valentine's Day exciting for you, Michelle.
I know you can't be my Valentine (I've got one anyway...). So Michelle - will you be my radio?
I love radio and always have. Heard about it yesterday on Radio-Canada. Just wish the community radio people would consent to elocution lessons. Um... ahhh... err
As the owner of one or two radios (the swoosh sound of Michelle throwing something at me)...I wasn't even aware of this!
Belated Happy World Radio Day everyone!
That was a radio, honey.
Wow. I'm surprised you're the one who posted this thread! Heh.
Oh, now I get it. You figure that r squared, in order to avoid projectiles, duped or paid me to open this thread on his behalf!?
That's called a conspiracy theory, Michelle.
Oh, you're just outlining what you actually did in order to get out ahead of it and to pretend that it is just a ridiculous conspiracy when it really was a conspiracy all along!
I'm wise to you two now.
Good thread.
Well as you walk in the door in this house there are three radios of various vintages in the hallway.
The first, a 1937 vintage RCA made in their old factory in Montreal, the seccond, a late 1950's "Wega" made in Germany, and the third, an early 1970's vintage Barlow Wadley made in South Africa (acquired used from eBay well after the fall of apartheid)...now that's just the hallway.....
The RCA doesn't work...the other two more or less work.
