A black York Regional Police officer faces misconduct charges for his handling of a farm party turned ugly, when he was allegedly subjected to repeated racial taunts and told words to the effect, “I would love to see that guy hanging from a tree.”
There is obviously a lot missing from this story as my mind can't get comprehend the way the story is presented.
perhaps there was another person of color present
criminal code 319(1) is a very dusty law. heralded when it was put in; languishing in disuse
Muirhead has told police investigators he and his fellow officers were immediately met with hostile resistance by about 15 people who had been drinking.
So the black cop gets charged with not investigating the racial taunts against him. Apparently none of the white officers share that duty with him. This story is so poorly written it is hard to figure out what is going on but frankly is sounds like systemic racism in the police force to me.
