Have you ever watched those World Vision commercials where Alex Trebec or Fred Penner exhort you to send money to help save the orphans in Sierra Leone (or Congo or wherever)? How did you feel? Did you maybe think that the producers of the commercial were exploiting the children in some way? I did, and still do.

I'm not advocating for or against sponsoring a child; that's another issue. But the use of real children who are suffering as props in what is essentially a profit-making enterprise is morally reprehensible.
