Some Monday morning hilarity:

Sacked Boundary-Similkameen BCCon candidate Mischa Popoff is running as an independent.

In his campaign video about not letting himself being bullied, he is continually headbutted by a cow.

This is the guy who once stated in one of his columns that Jimi Hendrix & Janis Joplin died from LSD overdoses

I loved the bull also.  I wonder what it was that Popoff put in his back pocket.

No, he's an Ezra Levant wannabe. He's just doing this for more noteriety

Thats an insult to the bull. What did that poor animal do to deserve being compared to Ezra?

Today, the BC NDP revealed its Top 12 list of BC Liberal candidates whose past and present behaviour should not disqualify them from being on the ballot as a BC Liberal candidate. Here they are:

The BC NDP is running a positive campaign, so we won’t be calling for the resignations of any of these BC Liberal candidates. Not calling for your opponents' resignations to distract from your own record; that’s change for the better.

Of course there is a perversely self-serving message here... please keep these candidates in the race to give us a better chance of winning.

What the NDP say in that release about Sam Sullivan is unfair and dirty politics. I hope Sam Sullivan loses and the NDP wins that riding, but not based on his so-called 'providing money to drug dealers'.

Bwahahaha

"Victoria needs more bull!"

"Ship the bull to the legislature!"

"All aboard the bull ship!"

And so on.

Indeed that is the least of my concerns with King Sam. I liked the rest of the list but that was a misguided low blow.  He was a bully when in office and the line in the documentary where he says he wakes up every morning and thinks about murdering his opponents would have been a far better reason.

Yes, Sullivan is a nasty piece of work and just the sort of person who'd end up in a Liberal cabinet. The NDP doesn't need to make up stuff about him in order to point this out.

Wow.

It's a tossup as to which party is more shameful.

Full page ads on the cover of the free papers is quite common.  Buying the space was a good move. However lying about the poll might well backfire especially if tomorrow the same paper runs a story about the poll.

Perhaps, but I have never seen it in my life. I think it was highly unethical on the part of  the newspaper, and I'd say that comes out in the Vancouver Sun story pointing out that it was in no way editorial (and the comments).

As for the Liberals, well clearly they are just way past it, if they are going to resort to this.

kropotkin1951

This is the fucking Vancouver 24 Hours not a newspaper.  It is free and people pick it up for its crossword puzzles and Sudoku. The news stories are barely above the length of a couple of tweeter feeds. I love the unflattering picture of both leaders in today's edition.

I have seen the paper, actually.

9 days out of 10 the front page of these free dailies will have a front page covered with a wireless phone ad or some other promo.  Still using it to fake a story is pretty pathetic. Obviously someone in the Liberal warroom was heard lamenting that they couldn't buy a positive news story and somebody else decided to prove them wrong.

Agreed. Also the hit against Linda Reid was unnecessary. Some staffer made a typo that redirected to the wrong web site. Big whoop.

Curiously I haven't heard any candidates talking about the snarkiness of that press release and nobody that I tweeted to about it responded.

Technically they didn't lie about the poll so much as they cherry-picked the ONLY question from the poll that had favourable numbers for Clark. Which candidate looked and sounded most like a premier? Well gee, only one of them is a premier right now.
