It's pretty obvious that Tim Horton's is under no obligation to provide content that they think some of their customers might find offensive. They could just turn off WiFi altogether - they don't have to offer it.
People who don't like this decision might consider frequenting a different restaurant.

Why yes! And they are also under no obligation to serve two men who may kiss each other and thus offend the homophobes frequentling the establishment. After all, there are plenty of other coffee shops who do allow such unsafe and unpleasant behaviour.
You're right about one thing, though. I won't be "frequenting" TH any time soon and wrote the executive and the admin to tell them as much.

@Catchfire: you're obviously being flippant. I think they meant "it's not appropriate for all ages viewing in a public environment" (with respect to the website, not your hypothetical people) seriously. You obviously don't. But you have decided not to go to Tim Horton's. That's your right, and pretty much the extent of it.

Perhaps, ygtbk, you can explain to me what about a gay-friendly/focused news site is opposed to a "safe and pleasant experience." I think you're the one being "flippant" -- casually dismissing explicitly homophobic policy as the right of a free market by this, the most Canadian of coffee shops. And in the LGBT forum, no less!

The association of homosexuality with pornography has been a long-time smear by homophobes, or that representations of same-sex desire is offensive to children. It is repeated by the "third-party" Tim Hortons admin in this story and, apparently, here on babble. The difference is that a Tim Hortons executive admited it was wrong to make such associations.

I did not say pornography - I said adult. And calling libertarians homophobes is... umm... incorrect. What other (adult, consenting) people want to do is not my issue, and I suspect most libertarians would agree with me.

Haha good one. I'd prefer not to get in a pissing match with you over what I (or you, apparently) can and cannot read in the LGBT forum though. Such heterosexual posturing is pretty démodé here. I also reserve the right to call libertarians homophobic whenever they lean on their "beliefs" to justify homphobic policies -- hey, like this one!
