We already have several monarchies here in Canada, we have the Layton’s, Trudeau’s, Cannon–Power’s, Hampton–Martel's and whole bunch of others that aren’t really worth mentioning so why should we worry about a new one born in a country across the Atlantic when we need to deal with our own domestic political powerhouses first?

It seems about 90% of what I read on this "story" is either republicans making fun of monarchists for caring about the birth, or monarchists taunting republicans about how this supposedly proves there's no support for a republic.
I guess I can personally yawn it all off, since I'm a "default monarchist", meaning I have little emotional attachment to the Crown or the royal family, but just can't be bothered to change a system that is entirely symbolic anyway. But the way some people have been carrying on with the rhetoric, you'd think the Roundheads and the Cavaliers were still chopping each other up in the English countryside.
