Little of recent American Islamophobia (with a strong emphasis on the "phobia") is sheer happenstance. Years before Tea Party shock troops massed for angry protests outside the proposed site of an Islamic community center in lower Manhattan, representatives of the Israel lobby and the Jewish-American establishment launched a campaign against pro-Palestinian campus activism that would prove a seedbed for everything to come. That campaign quickly -- and perhaps predictably -- morphed into a series of crusades against mosques and Islamic schools which, in turn, attracted an assortment of shady but exceptionally energetic militants into the network's ranks.

Australia Rejects Israeli-Ordered Media Censorship
Australia's Parliament and mainstream media may not differ all that much from other western countries when it comes to chronic groveling to the Zionist lobby. But like citizens in many countries, Australians sometimes exhibit admirable independence and respect for their society's own values. On December 10, 2010, whether by design or coincidence, International Human Rights Day, Australia's Communication and Media Authority ( ACMA ) released its decision on whether to ban Lebanon's Al Manar TV channel from being broadcast down under via the Indonesian PT Indosat satellite ( Palapa D) that was launched on 12/27/09.As in the US, which does ban Al Manar, the popular station's programming would, even if banned, still be available via internet live streaming. Al Manar (" the Beacon"), affiliated with the Lebanese political party, social service organization and resistance movement Hezbollah, has been the target of an intensive Israel instigated media assault for several years. Silvan Shalom, former Israeli Foreign Minister, at a 2004 Herzliya Convention, outlined his governments policy succinctly: "The Israeli Foreign Ministry intends to work actively to have Al Manar banned in other countries around the globe. It is Israel's intention to bring the seriousness of Al-Manar's broadcasts to the attention of the international community and to convince them to prevent Al-Manar from operating in as many countries as possible."

The pro-Israel lobby itself is, no doubt, quite pleased about the Islamo-hatred in this country (the ADL's Abe Foxman was the leading respectable agitator against the Islamic centre near Ground Zero). For them it's a zero-sum game. Those who hate Muslims are more likely to admire Israel.That is why the lobby is silent about Glenn Beck.
The lobby believes and teaches its adherents that anti-Semitism means opposing Israel's policies. Old-fashioned anti-Semitism, the kind that dripped like venom from Glenn Beck's week-long series, does not concern the lobby. It's okay to be anti-Semitic, so long as you are pro-Israel. (Note: Adolf Eichmann, the Nazi mass murderer, visited Palestine in the 1930's and professed admiration for Jewish accomplishments there. That didn't stop him from being an architect of the Final Solution, which was directed not at Israeli Jews but at those Jews closer to home.)

The current today had a pretty bad peice of pro Israeli journalism. The doctor that had his family killed by an Israeli bomb is suing for an apology, and the host kept asking him if it makes him a hypocrite. He wrote the book I Will Not Hate. Just kept asking that. Not his opinions on what happened to him, but are you being hypocriticial.-CBC is such a POS these days.

For many years, I admired Helen from afar, and later gave her an award for Truth In Media voted by my colleagues on Mediachannel.org. She was an institution, an icon of honor. We were impressed by her history of asking tough questions even when they embarrassed Presidents.
Then, suddenly, last June, I like everyone in the world of media, was stunned to witness her public fall from grace, partly self-inflicted, perhaps because of inelegant language used in response to an ambush interview by provocateur father-son Israeli advocates posing as journalists
They were following in the footsteps of the vicious comments by Ann ("You will find liberals always rooting for savages against civilization") Coulter who earlier denounced her as an "old Arab" sitting yards from the President as if she was threatening him. She refused to dignify that smear with a response.
I didn't know until she told me that she had also been hounded for years by Abe Foxman, a leader of the Anti-Defamation League, who demanded she explain 25 questions she asked Presidents over the decades, "I didn't answer," "she told me, "because I don't respond to junk mail."
Foxman then sent the questions to her employer trying to get her fired, she says. Later, he recruited former Bush Press Secretary Ari Fleisher in his crusade against her. Ari and his boss disliked her "hostile" questions about Iraq on official claims that have since been unmasked as lies.

Isabel Kershner: her record of hate and propaganda
Every word, every letter, every comma that Isabel Kershner writes in the New York Times contains elements of Israeli military/intelligence propaganda. The hate against Arabs that constitutes the thrust of her "reporting" is highly analogous to the "reporting" in Der Angriff in Berlin.

CBC radio noted that yesterday was the fifth anniversary of the imprisonment of IOF terrorist, Gilad Shalit.
No mention was made of the thousands of Arab hostages currently held in Israeli dungeons, nor did the CBC comment on the hundreds of thousands of Gazans held in the largest concentration camp in human history.

Today CBC Radio was finally forced to mention that Shalit was exchanged for 1,000 Palestinian prisoners - whose names and whose very existence they have ignored for years. They even let slip that there are about 6,000 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli custody, though they didn't mention that most of them have never been tried and convicted of a crime.
They also neglected to mention that this prisoner swap is exactly the same deal the Palestinians demanded five years ago when Shalit was first captured. I'm sure he'll be glad to hear that the Israeli government made him spend five years in captivity, just out of stubbornness.
Then they actually followed this story (on the World at Six) with a story about the government of Burma voluntarily releasing more than 200 political prisoners. The reporter made sure to mention that there were still about 2,000 political prisoners still being held, as evidence of the oppressive and dictatorial nature of the regime.
As I yelled at the radio, "So what does that make Israel?"

Also horrific how she was accused of "anti-semitism" of all things, when she was maligned as a Semite or Eastern Mediterranean for so long. She said she had always been thick with her many Jewish friends, and the discrimination she experienced was at the hands of the WASP establishment.
