Winnipeg's Leftwing Blogosphere

Okay, I was listening to Winnipeg Internet Pundits and heard something along the line's that corners of Winnipeg's leftwing blogosphere were critcizing Brian Pallister. Now, I've written quite a few anti-Pallister posts this month but I'm wondering if anyone has got in the game of looking at the Alliance/CON MP's nasty record.

Furthermore, I'm curious as to just what consitutes the left blogopshere of Winnipeg. As far as I know, the following left-leaning blogs from Winnipeg are...

Some of these blogs are seldomly updated (Union Medic's last post was a yaer ago). Are there any other left-leaning blogs from Winnipeg or other parts of Manitoba that I've missed?

First off, is it just me or are almost all of these blogs the official blog of some organization or another?  Is there any real "organic" left-wing blogosphere in Winnipeg?

One of my favourites is Jacks of Diamonds

Lavender Rhino moved to Vancouver, so it doesn't count anymore

Revivedrev also doesn't seem to be posting anymore

Left Hook moved to a new location, although my opinions of the author fall into the category of "If you can't say anything nice..."

Seems to me like there is a much more healthy culture on campus/community radio in Winnipeg than the blogosphere.  You have Alert and The F-Word on UMFM, and Black Mask, Say it Sista, and Mud and Water on CKUW, and probably more which I am forgetting.

That's something I've noticed & am concerned about.

I should probably start listening to radio, eh?

You can also download most of these shows on the UMFM and CKUW websites

I should note that it is a bit sad that none of those programs seem to have a very large listener reach.

Neither CKUW or UMFM were in the top 14 radio stations for ratings  in fall 2012. CJOB (home of the obnoxious Adler) hit the number 1 spot. This is a depressing fact.

On the other hand, if CJOB was ever unceremoniously killed it would just be replaced by some other mainstream pap and probably no one would think too much about it.

When that happened to CJUM back in the 80s there was a campaign from the entire community to bring it back (even if it took the better part of two decades)

And no, Adler is certainly no Peter Warren.

Has anyone listened to Richard Cloutier? How much of a hack is or isn't he. I generally don't listen to CJOB that much or radio in general, probably because I commute by bike rather than automobile.

Cloutier is a hack.

In what specific ways?

Does anyone remember the media portrayal of the CTF presenting the petition on the PST increase? Am I the only one who found it suspicious the way the press just happened to be there while the CTF and some PC MLAs were present?

Has anybody checked out a group called Winnipeg Alternative Media? They were the ones who organized the March Against Monsanto, and were the only ones represented there. They seem to be a group that is interested in certain conspiracy theories, there's much information that is not pertinent to Manitoba, and they don't seem to have connections with any other community based groups in the City.

Yeah, "Alternative Media" has become a bit unique in Winnipeg since rightwing demagogue Marty Gold uses it so often, as does other (or the same?) rightwing demagogue The Black Rod.

Alternative Media has written in defense of the Foxy Shoppe/Barbara Judt side in the "do-good" manufactroversy
