The CBC has corrupted itself by giving in to Olympic demands

Quote:
Fun fact: As the official Canadian broadcaster of the Sochi Games, the CBC agreed to stop streaming all of its Radio 1 programming outside of Canada. All of it – not just its live Olympics coverage. Anyone outside the country (including Canadian expats) who tunes in hears the following:

“Between February 6th and 23rd, CBC Radio 1 live streams will only be available to Canadian audiences due to Olympic rights restrictions. However, our listeners outside Canada can still hear the favourite shows on demand by visiting cbc.ca/radio, or by downloading the CBC Radio app and following the links to their favourite programs.”

The CBC is being a bit misleading in that last sentence. Because their newscasts contain reports about the Olympics, they’ve stopped producing news podcasts for the duration of the games.

Let that sink in for a moment. The CBC has effectively turned over decisions about how its news and entire Radio 1 network will be distributed to the International Olympic Committee, which controls the rights to the Olympics.

Geo-blocking is very common in the grant of broadcast rights.  I'm not seeing the controversy here.

sort of off-topic.

Walking past the radio and heard Jian Ghomeshi interviewing Don Cherry.

Asked why he saidRussian players have "no heart",  Cherry denies the quote, then doubles down by saying he meant they had "no character".

"They aren't like us; They don't think like us, and there are 120 of them in our junior hockey program right now".

Slumberjack

The speaking fees being paid to CBC journalists of late merely formalizes arrangements that have long been in existence.

Is this just more of the usual tripe from the many Cherry pontifications?

What is that supposed to mean?

CBC is corrupted beyond redemption!
Their news broadcasts continually promote lies and support fascist movements. Thank the gods that I am on long holiday from having to listen to their drivel, their trivia and their lies....Every major serious issue we face today, is either ignored by the CBC or totally manipulated with their lies. Sure the local radio is okay, there are great programs, but filler for the main news broadcasts...which corrupts the listener audience...just take the case of Ukraine now, or formerly, Syria or Libya ad nauseum.....

If there was a non corrupt court in this country I would charge the CBC with complicity in crimes against humanity...Isn´t this a fundamental Nuremburg principle?
