Hungarian Roma family in Montréal fighting deportation

I was glad to see this Rabble feature by rabble news intern Miriam Katawazi.

I've heard interviews with the family on Radio-Canada and CBC. The kids are very articulate in French; as many of you know, in central European countries such as Hungary and the Czech Republic, many Roma children are streamed into "slow learner" classes by default. And the far right, include outright Neo-Nazis who commit pogroms against Roma and other targets, are on the rise there.

Thanks to Miriam Katawazi, as well as to Karl Nerenberg for his continuing coverage of this outrage, and to the anti-racist groups and friends, neighbours and school staff here who are trying to help the Buzas family seek protection and justice.

A spot of good news: The Buzas family have won a reprieve

Of course they haven't yet won asylum, but at least they haven't been booted out

I know "Vice" isn't the greatest of media (and can be bloody misogynist), but this report on Jobbik confirms that its claims to have stopped targeting Roma and Jews are nothing but crap: http://www.vice.com/read/getting-punched-by-neo-nazis-in-hungary
