I was watching Manny fight Algieri last nite.

There was not the usual animosity that one usually sees surrounding boxing matches.

Manny Pacquiao

Beyond boxing, Pacquiao has participated in basketball, business, acting, music recording and politics. In May 2010, Pacquiaowas elected to the House of Representatives in the 15th Congress of the Philippines, representing the province of Sarangani. He was re-elected in 2013 to the 16th Congress of the Philippines.,[14]

Pacquiao, while mostly focussed on being a boxer and a congressman, is listed as the head coach of the basketball team Kia Sorentos. At 36, he also played 7 minutes of one of the team's games and is thus a professional basketball player. He was drafted onto the team that he coaches as 11th overall on the first round of the 2014 PBA draft by the Kia Sorentos, making him as the oldest rookie drafted,[15] as well as the shortest player and the first dual-sport athlete in the Philippine Basketball Association.[16]Pacquiao also owns a team in the PBA Developmental League (PBA D-League), the MP Hotel Warriors.

welder, why is Mayweather balking at signing a $5 million dollar doping penalty suggested by Pacquiao prior to the fight on May 2?

There’s simply no reason to watch Mayweather vs. Pacquiao

Any argument in favour of watching Floyd Mayweather fight Manny Pacquiao—the meta death rattle of a once-proud sports institution—is untenable.

But that is impossible in Mayweather’s circumstance. There is no question that the art and the artist is one and the same. No matter how graceful we see Mayweather’s flurrying footwork, we can’t in good faith watch it without thinking of his ability to dance pathetically around the questions of interviewers over whether or not he should be allowed to fight. No matter how brutally beautiful his jabs and hooks appear, one cannot separate them from the fact that those are the very same fists that sent women—not just one, but a series of them—to the hospital.

Could we condone watching a murderer perform murders? Would we watch, en masse, televised broadcasts of a showcase of skilled kidnappers? When viewers cheer on Mayweather’s boxing brutality—a much-admired trait within the ring—how can people not flash to the brutality of abuse? Between the ropes, there is simply no discernible line of dissonance between the act and his personal life. How can we possibly watch this without feeling some nausea?

A once proud sports institution?

Maybe in the same sense as foxhunting, but I'm not sure when it was ever anything to take real pride in.

Fortunately for those who pine for the glory days, the on-ice version is still alive and well.

If Manny wins he is a shoo-in to become Philippine President.

If Manny loses he is probably a shoo-in to become Philippine President.

Mayweather vs Pacquiao: Manny's camp cry foul after Floyd wins unanimous decision - live reaction

Exclusive: Floyd Mayweather beats Manny Pacquiao with brilliant performance, but promoter Bob Arum says one-armed Filipino was crucially denied shoulder injection pre-fight

I'm glad both contenders survived the fight.

I fully support the right of consenting adults to bash each other's brains to smithereens (as long as they don't make messes that others have to clean up).

It's kinda like cockfighting or bullfighting - but with this essential difference: The cock and bull don't choose to be tortured and killed. The human assholes do.

What I oppose is those already-brain-dead individuals who enjoy watching others do it.

Watching should be banned.

Thoughts?
