Have to say that I've seen this on a number of boards and the first time thru I skipped to Number 7 - the article about taxes - since that's a topic I know something about figured it was a good starting point. I clicked thru to the actual source document expecting to find a rehash of the discredited claims that GE paid no taxes. But instead I found a report where the "key findings" begin by complaining that despite the companies being highly profitable they received tax refunds - that completely ignores the simple fact that a company (or an individual) can't get a refund if they didn't overpay in the first place (which means that the gave Uncle Sam an interest free loan).
BTW, tax payments during a year tell you little of nothing about the amount of tax a company is actually paying - that number is a combination of estimated taxes on the current year's income together with over and underpayments from prior years.
That's when I stopped reading it.
