Trudeau gets stood up

http://m.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/trudeau-stood-up-by-controver...

Justin Trudeau got stood up by the Chinese Ambassador.  I shudder to think about what Justin is offer foreign nations in exchange for domesticate support. A free pass on human rights violations? One sided trade deals? Because they wouldn't agree to get involved at all at great risk if he wasn't offering something worth the risk, so the question becomes how is Justin Trudeau selling Canadians out to other countries in exchange for domestic support during the next election. More liberal corruption, ick.

That's already happened....

See: CETA and FIPA

Meet the  (photogenic) new boss...Same as the (not so photogenic) old boss...

The Globe And Mail is blocked at this cafe. But, assuming the article is about the same event that Global reported Charlie Angus as complaining about...NEXT

Was Trudeau really expecting the official representative of a major foreign government to show up at a partisan event hosted by the opposition? I'm not an expert on diplomatic protocol, but I would assume that's generally considered taboo, unless the ambassador REALLY wants to flip a middle finger to the sitting government. (Seems unlikely in the case of China).

Umm, you know, there are some times when a particular metaphor just isn't appropriate...

"Although it was billed as a private event, the Chinese state media CCTV and the local multicultural channel OMNI were positioned to capture the money shot of Mr. Trudeau with Mr. Luo"

If he accepted the invitation then yes, I would expect him to show up.

Fair enough. Blame should go to the ambassador as well, if he did indeed accept the invitation. If I were advising either Trudeau or the ambassador, I would tell them that the whole idea was bad.

Jacob Two-Two

If he accepted the invitation. Just inviting him and assuming he'd show up sounds exactly like the casual arrogance of the Liberal party that I've been seeing all my life.

Brachina

 Yep.

Isn't the real problem not who was "stood up" but why the Liberals wish to tie themselves to China's neo-liberal dictatorship?

I guess Trudeau wasn't joking when he offered praise for China - he really does like its government.

Well it appears the Chinese so-called communist system does make a lot of multi-millionaires, strange dat.  Frown

Maybe some of them even have trust accounts.

when will The NDP Pay back the money for the satellie offices? Taxpayers get stood up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The chinese system is communist in terms of government, but capitalist in terms of economics. That way, they get the best of both worlds!

Harper called it off, obviously.

Jacob Two-Two

Yeah. That seems quite likely. One quick phone call would nip this photo-op in the bud. Obviously Harper would make it. Liberals out maneuvered again.

Thanks for that Peirre Polievre I had wondered where you had been with your retro active talking points.

This has nothing to do with NDP satellite offices. If you read the title, it says "Trudeau gets stood up". I will be reporting more posts like this, which are just designed to be offensive. Be assured you are doing your Party much more harm than good.

NorthReport

Bingo!

How utterly embarassing and awkward for Canada.

Sounds like more of the kind of stuff Carol Goar was talking about.
