Amnesty Int’l wants to nix UN SecCounc vetoes

Already NATO (USA, France and UK) has the majority (3/5) of the Sec. Council vetoes. Without Russian or Chinese vetoes the West will have carte blanche for its humanitarian military interventions like Libya (China and Russian abstained from the UN vote).
The UN invasion of N. Korea, after the successful US expulsion from S. Korea, of N. Korean invaders, the millions of bombing deaths, China intervention all because no Chinese or Russian veto. Taiwan had China’s seat and Russia(USSR) boycotted in protest. Of course Amnesty is a British creation with a secular Christian, Western mind set.

The late Hugo Chavez proposed the establishment of a new UN in the global south.

As we get more proliferation of nuclear weapons powers, it begs the question about the whole veto anyway. What a pity that Mother Nature doesn't have a veto.

Hey Babblers, Amnesty has lots of financial support among NDPers. What do you think of removing the Russian and Chinese vetoes?

I forgot to add that I think the idea also included the expulsion/exclusion of the USA and some allied predatory regimes.

Chavez had a way with words, no? Who can forget his great speech in which he declared that the smell of sulphur was still fresh at the podium (US President Bush had just the day before graced the hall with his foul, demonic odor) ?

Thanks, NDPP for the links. As for Chavez, he forgot that diplomacy often gets the best results.

bwa-ha-ha-ha. I'm sure those who support the independence of the Global south will greatly appreciate your instructions about how to conduct foreign policy.
