Read the comments on that article. It is a stream of racist tirades, most of it not coming from the people he accuses in the article.

This isn't the first piece I have read about a Jewish person going to Lviv and being shocked. And while I am sure that someone going there might be shocked by racism and discrimination like any outsider (I have been to a few places where I have had that feeling), and the terrible history of that place is a fact, it does seem kind of constructed.

As for his charges, no, Lviv is not the only place where discriminatory material is being sold freely. If he is shocked by an old piece of jewellry with a crude swastika on it he might want to look at that symbol's pre-Nazi use:

Well if you don't know its history, it is kind of dumb, actually.

If you bothered to click on the link above, you'd see it was a common symbol, and traditional in slavic cultures long before the Nazis adopted it. It was the symbol of one of the Polish army regiments right up until the war, and there are plenty of clearer examples than a cross inside of a square that sort of looks like one.

Like this one.. money printed by Russia's first soviet government in 1918. Does that make them some of your goosestepping Nazis too?

The US and European outcry over the deaths of these
Ukrainian opposition figures has been, shall we say, muted, and not only in
comparison to the outcry which followed the death of Boris Nemtsov. Today we see
nothing close to the outrage which ensued after the murders of Russian
opposition journalists and activists Paul Klebnikov (2004), Anna Politkovskaya
(2006) and Alexander Litvinenko (2006). The reason for this is not difficult to
discern.

Our wondrously pliant Beltway media has, for months
now, ignored the spate of murders and suspicious suicides in Kiev because it
prefers not to report on the illiberal tide that is now sweeping over Kiev.

The lesson policymakers (as well as the many 2016 presidential aspirants)
might take away from the example of post-Yanukovych Ukraine is that overthrowing
democratically-elected governments, however corrupt, is not a promising recipe
for building the kinds of ‘civil societies’ that we are told are in America’s
interest.

American journalists and US policymakers might do well to focus more closely
on the full dimensions of what is unfolding in Kiev rather than to continue to
simply parrot the post-Maidan party line.

There was no great outcry over many of the murders and attempted murders by rebel elements and Yanukovich's government either. Most of those have been ignored by the general public. The revelation earlier this month that rebels are executing people without trial has pretty much faded from public interest, just like the admission that they were doing it last summer.

That people do pay attention to a military invasion and knocking planes out of the sky - well that isn't all that surprising.

But of course they had disadvantages in their geopolitical situation. They were riven, divided and partially disintegrated. But there were huge mistakes by Ukrainian politicians.

So, I am 100% sure this disastrous and stupidly played Ukrainian card, by the EU and USA has caused all this crisis and drama, just the same way and by the same powers that played it 20 years ago in Ukraine also. I'm not here to praise Russia, but in this case Russia and Putin are completely innocent and I am 100% sure Putin is most unhappy about how he was forced to respond.

And I am sure that what Mr Putin has done there was a 'forced move' as chessplayers say. This was their purpose all along, how to make war in Ukraine and cause all the consequences which are there now. Putin was hoping for peace and tranquility after the success of the Sochi Olympics, but he was dragged into a situation which is a disaster for Russia, a disaster for Putin and most importantly a huge disaster for Ukrainian peoples who live there, who are the victims, and who do the suffering.

Western Europe and especially USA are playing games with Ukraine. And some blind, improvident people among us seem unable to understand this. So this is the hard, honest truth of the thing and I don't know what more I can say.

Apparently we're just picking up for different shades of evil is what I’m getting out of these conversations. Essentially everything being done on one side is supposed to cancel out the schemes of the other, so that we're all supposed to be staring at a big fat zero of an issue. We're to ignore all the death and destruction, unless we're up for pointing fingers in the proper direction, which is Russia and it's evil ways. It's a similar argument employed in the Israeli/Palestinian context, ie: there's violence on 'both' sides. Everything is a wash. In the Ukrainian situation such a position leaves the global hegemon to surround, secure and gobble up more international commerce, which it claims ownership over globally, and in the occupied Palestinian territories it leaves the regional hegemon alone to gobble up more land. These are clearly morally bankrupt and scripted attempts at obfuscation, which by default winds up happily supporting the status quo world order.

Nothing so fatalist, relativist or black and white. I'd say a more realistic outlook is to see that there are those who have honest interests and those who are out to manipulate all sides here.

And in this case, it helps to know some of Klaus's background in reading his opinion. Because although he is a critic of the Eurozone and the Americans, most of his political outlook with regard to free market capitalism, environmental issues would make him at home with the American right. As for his positions on homosexuality and far right authoritarianism, he could probably help be a bridge of compromise and cooperation between those far right westerners and Vladimir Putin's vision.

Good news for some, I suppose.

That is kind of funny. Name-drop the OSCE in order to lend some validity, in the same article paint them as tools of the west:
