Baltimore Erupts After Freddie Gray Funeral LIVE UPDATES

And mainstream media have already begun their evil narrative of dividing the 'good', 'peaceful'  protesters and 'a small group of troublemakers etc.'  Things could be rocking tonight...

The right-wing is already attacking, on the basis 'this is Democratic administration at its best" , 'Obama's base' etc.

What's going on is that cops seem to have added rocks and bricks to their arsenal.

If the entire city were rioting the MSM would separate the troublemaking city from the good, 'peaceful cities,' just like there are bad countries and the supposed peace loving 'international community' countries.  It's the same narrative for different occasions.  The MSM are really part of no community except for that of their elite owners.  Their job is to aid and abet the counterattack of the police with barrages of propaganda in order to control the situation and restore commercial profitability to the area as soon as possible.  Hope the protesters stay safe.

Lots of what looked to be young highschoolers participating in the riot.  Inspiring to see them engage in politics like that.

Yeah. If the State was smarter they'd consider lowering the voting age.

The hideous white hypocrisy behind the Baltimore “Hero Mom” hype

I’m aware that a lot of African Americans are lauding Graham, too. This piece isn’t directed at them. Whether they applaud or critique Graham’s corporal punishment, most black people debating the issue acknowledge that the desperate public beating came from centuries of black parents knowing they have to discipline their children harshly, or else white society will do it for them – and they may not survive it.

The hypocrisy of the white mainstream applauding Graham is sickening. Let’s be honest: many white folks are reflexive critics of the greater frequency of corporal punishment in the black community. Witness the media horror at Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson beating his young son. If Graham beat her child like that in the aisles of CVS, you can be sure somebody would call CPS.

Curious too, how some people that really got off on Maidan, are distinctly frosty towards this one. Seems the how-to-think message from the big media wurlitzer makes all the difference..

One-Third of Baltimore Residents Can’t Afford Ever-Increasing Water Rates

A Food & Water Watch research brief released today finds that Baltimore’s current water shutoff campaign is indicative of bigger issues for the city: one-third of the city’s residents cannot afford water and sewer service. Because of this lack of affordability, ever-increasing water rates, and inaccessible, insufficient assistance to low-income residents, the city risks violating the human right to water by shutting off water service to households unable to pay these rates.

Food & Water Watch’s analysis highlights a startling statistic: while the United Nations has established that affordable water and sanitation service should be no more than 3 percent of household income, one-third of Baltimore households earned less than $25,000 per year, yet paid an average of $804 per year on water and sewer services as of April 2015. That means that one-third of the city’s residents, or 80,000 households, simply cannot afford their water rates....

Tell Baltimore To Stop The Water Shut Offs!

On April 1, Baltimore started turning off water to 150 households a day. The city plans to turn off 25,000 residences in total. There are commercial and public entities in Baltimore that owe $15 million, but they are not losing their access to water.

Baltimore has a history of overcharging residents. This resulted in a $4.2 million refund to about 38,000 residents in 2012.

Beginning in July 2013, Baltimore is raising water rates by 42% over a three year period....

Six Police Officers Charged in Freddie Gray Death

Six Baltimore police officers will face criminal charges over the death of Freddie Gray, prosecutors announced Friday. Baltimore State Attorney Marilyn Mosby said the charges will include manslaughter and murder. “The findings of our comprehensive, thorough and independent investigation, coupled with the medical examiner's determination that Mr. Gray's death was a homicide – which we received today – has led us to believe that we have probably cause to file criminal charges,” Mosby stated. The announcement was immediately followed by a round of cheers by onlookers. Mosby continued by stating Gray had committed “no crime” at the time of his arrest on April 12. She alleged police officers “illegally arrested Mr Gray.”....

I share in the elation of the charges brought againt the police who brutally injured and killed Freddie Gray. This is a long overdue step in finally recognizing the racist treatment at the hands of the police and other authorities. Let's hope the charges stick.

This issue on reparations is good:

http://www.theatlantic.com/features/archive/2014/05/the-case-for-reparat...

Exploitation of American blacks seems to have gone from slavery to jim crow to contract selling and now to redlining and higher and higher utility rates. Plus there is general racism from the white and other communities and police brutality with the failure of white authorities to punish them.

Every time the blacks are freed from one abuse by the whites, the whites invented another one.

The numbers on wealth disparity and income disparity are shocking. Where there are numbers like $130,000 for whites and $9,000 for blacks, and some are using numbers like 17:1 and 20:1. Blacks were deliberately shut out of the property boom since the 1940s.

The White Men's Working Associations kept blacks, aboriginals, and others out of good-paying jobs. I heard of this from my own aboriginal family mmbers.

It's early days yet but to make a murder charge stick the state is going to have to prove intent.  Involuntary manslaughter maybe but by bringing murder charges there is a good chance that they've overplayed their hand and will end up having the case thrown out.

Recognizing that Dershowitz is a defense attorney that specializes in cases like this he still makes some valid points.

Chris Hedges: It's time to make the rich run for their f*cking lives.

Quote:
But no matter what happens, the chain reaction that leads to revolt has begun. Most people realize that our expectations for a better future have been obliterated, not only those for ourselves but also for our children. This realization has lit the fuse. There is a widespread loss of faith in established systems of power. The will to rule is weakening among the elites, who are entranced by hedonism and decadence. Internal corruption is rampant and transparent. Government is despised.

Israeli-trained police invade Baltimore in crackdown on Black Lives Matter

For the second time in less than a year, an American city was transformed into a hypermilitarized police state to subdue growing resistance to anti-Black police violence.

Eight months ago, paramilitary forces barreled down the streets of Ferguson, Missouri, following the gruesome police killing of unarmed Black teenager Michael Brown.

Last week, martial law was imposed on the people of Baltimore, Maryland, in yet another crackdown aimed at crushing the Black Lives Matter uprising, galvanized this time by the police murder of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old Black man whose spinal cord was severed while in police custody.

It was an occupation in the truest sense of the term. However, for Baltimore’s poor Black neighborhoods, it was a hypermilitarized version of the lower intensity occupation they are subjected to on a regular basis.

Protests demanding justice for Gray had been largely peaceful, until heavy-handed police tactics against Baltimore high school students on 27 April incited a riot.

Some young people responded by throwing bottles and rocks at police, prompting comparisons to Palestine, where children often toss stones at Israeli occupation forces as a means of resistance and self-defense.

Windows of police cruisers were smashed, stores were looted and a CVS store was set ablaze, throwing white America into a panicked frenzy that seemed to prioritize broken windows over broken spines, as one activist put it

Martial law

Within hours of the riots, Baltimore city officials declared a state of emergency and instituted a 10pm curfew.

Practically overnight, Baltimore morphed into a heavily militarized police state with machine-like efficiency, demonstrating America’s frightening capacity to successfully implement martial law in a major US city in a matter of hours.

By Tuesday, 3,000 National Guard troops were deployed to Baltimore....
